Under no circumstances will there be any shortage of funds for development works in Mohali and about Rs. 65 crore has been provided to Mohali Municipal Corporation for development works in the recent past. This was stated by the Health and Family Welfare Minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu while handing over a grant of Rs. 10 crore under Punjab Urban Environment Improvement Program Phase III to Mohali Municipal Corporation. Mohali Municipal Corporation Mayor Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu, Senior Deputy Mayor Amrik Singh Somal , Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi, Commissioner Kamal Garg and Political Secretary to the Minister Harkesh Chand Sharma Machhli Kalan were specially present on the occasion.Speaking on the occasion Mr. Sidhu said that Mohali Municipal Corporation has initiated development works to the tune of Rs. 16.38 crore out of which Rs. 10 crore was being spent for the construction of road on the sewer pipe on the main road of Mohali while the remaining amount was being spent on development works in other wards.Mr. Sidhu said that similarly various works worth Rs. 22.79 crore have been passed by the Finance and Contract Committee, their tenders have been invited and these development works would start next week.Making another important announcement, Mr. Sidhu said that all the work of Public Health Department in Mohali would be taken under Mohali Municipal Corporation and all the work would be done under single window. He said that the employees of this department would be taken on deputation by the Municipal Corporation. He said that in Mohali the money is paid by the Municipal Corporation but the work was done by the Public Health Department due to which the work under the Public Health Department took a lot of time and people were embarrassed.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Sidhu also said that Mohali Corporation owes Rs. 30 crore from the PSPCL which was collected by the department through Chungi on its bills. He said that he had already talked to Venu Prasad, Chairman, PSPCL and at the beginning of next month about Rs. 25 crore would be given to the Municipal Corporation.Health Minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu said that a resolution has been passed to bring Mohali Industrial Area Phase 8A, 8B and Sector 74 Mohali Industrial Area under Mohali Municipal Corporation. He said that there was a long standing demand of the residents of these areas to be brought under the purview of the Municipal Corporation as earlier the entire area was being maintained by PSIEC. He said that Rs.2.5 crore would be provided by the said department and after taking over the area, Mohali Municipal Corporation would start development works here.Minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu said that after taking charge by the newly elected corporation he has given Rs. 65 crore to Mohali Municipal Corporation for development works out of which Rs. 25 crore has been given from GMADA while the rest is acquired under Punjab Urban Environment Improvement Program Phases I and II. He said that he was committed for the development of the entire Mohali constituency and the city of Mohali would be better developed than Panchkula and Chandigarh.On the occasion Mayor Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu thanked the Health Minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu and said that under his able guidance of Mohali Municipal Corporation the development work was going on continuously. He said that in the same way Mohali would continue to be guided on the path of development and development work would be carried out as per the advice and suggestions of the residents of Mohali and according to the needs of different areas.
