Assistant Commissioner (G), Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, Dr Ankita Kansal, today chaired a meeting of the District Advisory Committee of MY Bharat (Mera Yuva Bharat) to review and strengthen youth engagement initiatives in the district. During the meeting, a detailed presentation was made on MY Bharat, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, launched on October 31, 2023, with the vision of creating an empowered, skilled and socially responsible youth population by the Deputy Ditector, Mera Yuva Bharat Mohit Kumar Saini.

The Assistant Commissioner was apprised that MY Bharat serves as a unified phygital platform for youth in the age group of 15 to 29 years, providing opportunities for volunteering, experiential learning, leadership development, skill-building, community service and participation in nation-building initiatives. The meeting focused on an Intensive MY Bharat Volunteer Registration Drive to ensure maximum registration of eligible youth on the MY Bharat Portal. 

The campaign will be undertaken through educational institutions, youth organisations, government departments and volunteers. The Assistant Commissioner directed all educational institutions in the district to play a proactive role in the registration drive by organising registration camps on their campuses. Schools and colleges were also requested to appoint one Nodal Officer and one student Campus Ambassador to monitor registration progress and coordinate with MY Bharat, SAS Nagar.

All government departments were also urged to onboard eligible youth associated with their programmes and activities on the MY Bharat Portal and promote the platform during their youth-oriented outreach activities. The meeting also discussed the organisation of monthly Experiential Learning Programmes (ELPs) in collaboration with various government departments and non-governmental organisations. 

These programmes will provide young people with practical exposure to the functioning of government departments, various schemes and initiatives, and community development activities. The Committee also reviewed upcoming initiatives, including the MY Bharat Future Youth Leaders Bootcamp and Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat, aimed at developing leadership skills among youth and promoting awareness regarding the harmful effects of substance abuse.

The Assistant Commissioner emphasised the need for coordinated efforts by all stakeholders to ensure maximum youth participation in MY Bharat initiatives and to provide young people with meaningful opportunities for learning, volunteering, leadership and nation-building. The meeting was attended by representatives of concerned government departments, educational institutions and other stakeholders associated with youth development initiatives.
