BJP Punjab Spokesperson S. Pritpal Singh Baliawal has submitted a memorandum to Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain, seeking urgent measures to strengthen and repair embankments and river protection structures across the Sahnewal constituency, along with strict action against illegal mining. Citing the flash flood warning issued by the Himachal Pradesh Government, Baliawal said immediate preventive measures were necessary to safeguard residents, farmers, agricultural land and property in vulnerable areas.

He urged the administration to expedite the ongoing repair work at the Sasrali embankment and strengthen other damaged embankments and protection structures affected by last year’s floods. He also called for immediate inspections of all sand-mining sites, stating that mining activities remain prohibited during the monsoon period from July 1 to September 30.

He demanded strict action against any violations and sought physical verification and documentation of sand stocks at dumping and storage sites to prevent illegal mining and unauthorised accumulation during the prohibited period. He further urged the administration and concerned departments to jointly inspect all mining-affected locations from Kasabad to Ghumana and immediately repair any damage caused to land, roads, embankments or other infrastructure.

Bjp spokesperson pritpal expressed hope that the district administration would act swiftly in the public interest and take all necessary preventive measures to protect the people, farmers and properties of the Sahnewal constituency from potential monsoon-related damage.
