The newly elected team of the Municipal Council, Longowal, formally assumed office today in the presence of Punjab Cabinet Minister Aman Arora. On the occasion, Rachhpal Kaur took charge as President, Kuldeep Singh Bunty as Senior Vice-President, and Karamjit Kaur as Vice-President. Congratulating the newly elected office-bearers and all councillors, the Cabinet Minister urged them to accord the highest priority to public service.

Addressing the gathering, Aman Arora said that the overwhelming trust reposed by the people of Longowal in the Aam Aadmi Party during the Municipal Council elections has placed a significant responsibility on the new team to live up to the expectations of the citizens.  He said that the opportunity to serve the people is a blessing and must always be exercised with honesty, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to public welfare.

He stated that the development works undertaken in Longowal and across the constituency over the past four and a half years are the result of teamwork and the unwavering support of the people. He added that the pace of development would now be accelerated further to transform Longowal into a model town.

Arora said that the Municipal Council is the most important institution of local self-government and is primarily responsible for ensuring essential civic amenities that directly affect the daily lives of citizens. He directed the new team to accord top priority to improving sanitation, ensuring an uninterrupted drinking water supply, strengthening sewerage management, maintaining street lighting, implementing efficient door-to-door waste collection, and enhancing other essential civic services.

He further emphasized that the Municipal Council should work with a long-term vision for the town's planned development by preparing future development plans, expanding public amenities, and ensuring systematic urban growth. He urged elected representatives, officers, and employees to work in a spirit of teamwork and shared responsibility.

The Cabinet Minister stressed that no citizen should face discrimination in the Municipal Council on political, social, or any other grounds. Every genuine public service request, he said, must be addressed without unnecessary delays, harassment, or corruption, and with complete transparency.

He added that this reflects the working culture of the Aam Aadmi Party and the governance model of the Punjab Government. Aman Arora said it is his earnest aspiration to see the Municipal Council, Longowal, emerge as one of the finest municipal councils in Punjab through efficient administration, transparent governance, and people-centric functioning.

He remarked that when intentions are honest, the team is committed, and the spirit of public service is strong, no goal is beyond reach. Addressing all councillors, he said that every elected councillor bears responsibilities equal to those of the President towards the people of their respective wards. He assured them that both he and the Punjab Government would always stand firmly with the Municipal Council in serving the public and that there would be no shortage of funds for developmental works.

Among those present on the occasion were newly elected President Rachhpal Kaur (wife of Balwinder Singh) , Senior Vice-President Kuldeep Singh Bunty, Vice-President Karamjit Kaur (wife of Gurjit Singh Kala), all councillors, party leaders, officers and employees of the Municipal Council, and a large number of residents of Longowal.
