Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today accused the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of dancing to the tunes of the union Home Minister Amit Shah by launching a brutal crackdown against farmers and their leaders who were planning to go to Delhi and protest against Indo-US Trade Deal. He observed that the AAP appeared to have reached an understanding with the BJP and that is the reason Mann was doing Shah’s bidding.

Reacting to the crackdown by the Punjab Police on farmer leaders, Warring asked Mann what was his problem when the farmers were scheduled to protest against the central government only. The PCC president noted that this was obvious that the Mann government was doing it at the behest of the union Home Minister who obviously must have asked him (Mann) to ensure that the farmers do not reach Delhi.

He said, the sad part is that Mann obliged Shah so obediently that he forgot that he often used to claim himself to be a “farmer’s son”. Warring reminded Mann that it was the Congress government in Punjab in 2020 which had provided farmers free passage that they reached the Delhi border and staged a year-long dharna there and forced Prime Minister Modi to withdraw the three controversial farm laws.

He said the BJP government was quite afraid of Punjabi farmers and it roped in Mann to prevent them from reaching Delhi. He said the Mann government had not done it for the first time as earlier it used brute force to remove farmers from Shambhu Border.

The PCC president said that the farmers have a genuine reason to oppose the Indo-US Trade Deal as it has the potential to destroy the country’s agriculture as it provides for opening up the farm sector to US imports.
