In a significant step towards strengthening industry-oriented technical education and promoting innovation, the Department of Technical Education and Industrial Training, Punjab, has established its sixth Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) Lab at Government Polytechnic College, Khuni Majra.
The state-of-the-art facility has been developed in collaboration with IIT Ropar to equip students with practical knowledge and skills in emerging technologies.The CPS Lab was inaugurated by Sh. Gurmeet Singh, SDM, Kharar, in the presence of faculty members, students and distinguished guests.
Congratulating the faculty and staff on establishing the state-of-the-art laboratory with the support of IIT Ropar through the dedicated efforts of Principal Ms. Raksha Kiran, the SDM expressed confidence that the initiative would provide students with hands-on learning opportunities and exposure to advanced technological applications.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Aditya Madan, Chief Partnership Officer, IIT Ropar, said that the CPS Lab would play a pivotal role in imparting practical training in cutting-edge domains such as Automation, the Internet of Things (IoT), Robotics and Industry 4.0.
He further stated that the facility would also support data collection and analysis for applications such as soil testing and environmental forecasting, thereby fostering research, innovation and interdisciplinary learning. Appreciating the initiative, he remarked that such laboratories would enhance students' employability and help bridge the gap between academia and industry.
Officiating Principal Sh. Ravinder Singh Walia stated that the institution is consistently introducing innovative initiatives to provide quality and modern technical education. He said that the establishment of the CPS Lab marks another important milestone in the college's journey towards creating a technologically advanced learning environment and strengthening students' technical competencies.
College's Civil Engineering Wing In-charge Prof. Gurbakshish Singh Antal informed that Aditya Madan, Chief Partnership Officer; Akhila Anil, Deputy Manager (Skills & Partnerships); Ankit Sharma, Young Professional (Skills & Partnerships), and the entire IIT Ropar team played a significant role in setting up the laboratory. They also interacted with students and faculty members, highlighting the objectives of the CPS Lab and the learning opportunities it offers.
