A delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Chandigarh, led by State President Jatinder Pal Malhotra, met Chandigarh Administrator and Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria. The delegation also included State Vice Presidents Davinder Singh Babla, Indira Singh, and Raj Kishore.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on expanding medical education in Chandigarh, the possibility of introducing 50 additional MBBS seats and 50 postgraduate (PG) seats, and various development-related issues concerning the city.
The delegation emphasized the need to strengthen healthcare services and medical education in Chandigarh so that local students can receive greater opportunities and the city can further establish itself as a leading educational hub. A formal request had already been submitted to the Central Government seeking the addition of 50 MBBS and 50 PG seats.
Following the positive discussions, there is now strong optimism that this demand will soon be fulfilled. It is expected that the Central Government may take a significant decision on this matter within the next ten days. State President Jatinder Pal Malhotra described the meeting as highly positive and stated that Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria listened to all the issues seriously and assured the delegation that appropriate directions would be issued to the concerned officials.
He expressed confidence that a major decision regarding the addition of 50 MBBS and 50 PG seats is likely within the next ten days, which would significantly strengthen medical education in Chandigarh. He further said that BJP Chandigarh has consistently been raising issues related to the city's development, public welfare, education, and healthcare on priority.
The meeting with the Administrator is a positive indication for Chandigarh and is expected to accelerate the pace of development in the coming months. The delegation also urged the Administrator to expedite pending development projects, improve public amenities, and ensure the prompt resolution of issues affecting citizens.
