Under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in the district, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Aashika Jain on Saturday evening visited local wards and met people to brief about the revision process. She also handed over enumeration forms to voters besides explaining the entire process of SIR.

Giving comprehensive details to the people regarding SIR, Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain said that the revision of electoral rolls was a complete transparent and participatory process  in which not only voters but also representatives of political parties would be involved for smooth completion of the entire exercise.

She also solicited  fulsome support from all stakeholders towards the teams  deputed for SIR in district thus ensuring accurate and seamless accomplishment of the revision. The Deputy Commissioner categorically mentioned that BLOs would visit each household at least three times.

In the district, Jain said,  a total 1,563 BLOs would cover all 12,68,648 electors across seven  Assembly constituencies, which would be  monitored by Supervisors. She said that agents of recognised political parties also accompanied the BLOs during the distribution of the enumeration forms.

District Election Officer accompanied by SDM Parampreet Singh, Election Tehsildar Ramandeep Kaur, BLOs and other officials also appealed the people to play an active role to get all eligible voters included in the voters list. She said that the third day of SIR exercise witnessed the a total distribution of 651817 enumeration forms  during house-to-house visits by BLOs.

If the elector is unavailable, the form may be handed over to any adult member of the family. The Deputy Commissioner appealed to electors who do not receive the form to contact their respective BLO using the contact number provided or avail the "Book a Call with BLO" facility.

She also advised voters to verify details through the ECI and CEO Punjab websites and the ECINET app. Elaborating about the constituency wise counting of distribution of enumeration forms Aashika Jain said that in 39-Mukerian constituency as many as

45862 enumerations forms were distributed while in 40-Dasuya the count was 152072 whereas in 41-Urmar the number was 149933.

Similarly, in 42-Sham Churasi a total 65844 forms were handed over on first day while in 43-Hoshiarpur the number was 35683 and in 44-Chabbewal the count was 120908. Likewise, the  45-Garhshankar assembly constituency as many as  81515 forms were distributed.

Pertinently, the house-to-house enumeration exercise will continue till July 24 while the rationalisation of polling stations will be completed on July 24, 2026. The draft electoral rolls will be published on August 3, 2026.

The claims and objections regarding the electoral rolls may be submitted from August 3 to September 2, 2026, while the disposal of claims and objections will be undertaken between August 3 and September 28, 2026. The final electoral rolls will be published on October 1, 2026.
