The Punjabi NRIs now no longer need to go to government offices to get their essential documents countersigned. Deputy Commissioner Barnala Mrs. Punamdeep Kaur IAS said giving this information here today. She said that government has launched an online e-sanad portal http://esanad.nic.in portal with which an applicant can apply for counter signed documents from the ease of his or her home.

Deputy Commissioner said that from August 25, 2024 Punjabi NRIs can apply online on e-Sanad portal http://esanad.nic.in to get various documents countersigned including their birth certificate, marriage certificate, driving license. She said that such applications will no longer be taken in the service centres.

On applying online, the applicant will get a receipt number. Each level of operation of getting work done will be done online. The applicant need not go to Chandigarh or Delhi. After countersigning, the document will be sent to the applicant through email and other means.

Deputy Commissioner said that earlier the applicant used to go to service centre and apply himself or herself. After that he / she had to go to Chandigarh and Patiala House, Delhi with his / her application. This caused them a lot of trouble along with wastage of time and money.

Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Punamdeep Kaur urged NRI Punjabis to take advantage of this facility.
