Member of Parliament Sangrur, Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, today dedicated three new dialysis machines to patients at the Civil Hospital, Barnala. The machines have been procured at a cost of approximately ₹22.5 lakh from the MPLADS fund.

Speaking on the occasion, MP Meet Hayer said that patients had been facing considerable inconvenience as only three of the six dialysis machines at the Civil Hospital were operational, while the remaining three had become non-functional. Recognising the urgent need to improve dialysis services, three new machines have been installed to ensure timely treatment and reduce waiting time for patients.

He said that under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, sustained efforts are being made to strengthen the state's healthcare infrastructure and provide quality medical services to the people. On the occasion, dialysis patient Rajni Bala (34) and her husband Navdeep Goyal expressed their gratitude by cutting a cake in honour of MP Meet Hayer.

They shared that Rajni Bala has been undergoing dialysis for nearly two years and that the shortage of machines often resulted in long waiting hours. They said the addition of the new machines would provide much-needed relief to several patients undergoing regular dialysis.

Later, MP Meet Hayer also reviewed the ongoing construction of the Critical Care Unit (CCU) at the Civil Hospital, being built at a cost of ₹16.50 crore. He said the 50-bed state-of-the-art facility is expected to be completed by the end of this year and will significantly enhance the hospital's capacity to provide advanced treatment to critically ill patients.

The MP reviewed the progress of the project with officials of the concerned departments and directed them to ensure that the construction is completed within the stipulated timeline while maintaining the highest quality standards. Among those present on the occasion were Deputy Commissioner Harpreet Singh IAS, Mayor Hasan Bhardwaj, Halka In-charge Harinder Dhaliwal, Improvement Trust Chairman Ram Tirath Manna, Civil Surgeon Dr. Haripal Singh, SMO Dr. Indu Bansal, besides other officers and dignitaries.
