The Punjab Government is continuously transforming government schools and equipping students with the skills required for the future. As part of this vision, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) curriculum will soon be introduced in government schools, further strengthening Punjab's position among the leading states in the field of education.

Interacting with students during the Bright Minds Punjab 2026 programme held in Barnala, Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that the primary objective of the programme was to establish direct interaction with students and teachers and discuss the ongoing reforms and transformation in the education system.

During the event, students who secured more than 90 per cent marks in the Class 12 examinations were felicitated for their outstanding academic achievements. The Education Minister said that Punjab's government schools and students are achieving new milestones.

He stated that the programme also aimed to seek valuable suggestions from students. He added that the government is working to make education more practical-oriented rather than theory-based. To prepare students for the future, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) curriculum will soon be introduced, enabling them to compete successfully in the global job market.

He expressed confidence that Punjab would scale even greater heights in the field of education in the coming years. Referring to Barnala district, the Minister announced that a new Government College would soon be established at Dhanaula to strengthen higher education in the region.

He noted that Member of Parliament from Sangrur, Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, had been making consistent efforts to bring the project to fruition. Addressing the gathering, former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that bringing large-scale reforms to the education system and preparing students for the challenges of the future are among the government's foremost responsibilities.

He said Punjab has witnessed significant improvements in its education system and emphasised that students are the nation's future, while the country's progress depends largely on the quality of its education. Therefore, he added, the Punjab Government is giving the highest priority to the education sector.

He further said that it is essential to equip students with emerging technologies so that they remain future-ready. Member of Parliament Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer said such programmes serve as a great source of inspiration for students. He added that, as part of the Punjab Government's commitment to expanding higher education opportunities, a new Government College will be established at Dhanaula, with its foundation stone to be laid soon.

Among those present on the occasion were MLA Mehal Kalan Kulwant Singh Pandori, DPI (Secondary Education) Sakatar Singh Bal, Deputy Commissioner Harpreet Singh, SSP Mohammad Sarfaraz Alam, Halqa In-charge Harinder Dhaliwal, Mayor Hasan Bhardwaj, SDM Dr. Ajitpal Singh Chehal, DEO (Secondary Education) Sunitinder Singh, DEO (Elementary Education) Indu Simak, along with other senior officers and distinguished guests.
