Kuljit Singh Bedi, Deputy Mayor, Mohali Municipal Corporation termed the decision of Mohali Councilors to provide Rs. 10 lakh per year for developmental works in their wards as historic decision. Deputy Mayor Bedi said that this proves that the newly elected Mayor of Mohali Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu and the entire team is not only taking transparent decisions but is far from the politics of discrimination.Deputy Mayor Bedi said in a statement that the municipal budget has been slashed due to the Corona pandemic crisis and the amount could be further increased for development in councilors' wards in the coming years.Deputy Mayor Bedi said that it was the idea of MLA Mohali and Health Minister Punjab Balbir Singh Sidhu to empower the councilors for development in every ward which has been carried out by Mayor Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu. He said that Minister Sidhu has always been thinking of his constituency as development oriented due to which Mohali constituency has witnessed the highest development in Punjab. He said that it was due to the personal interest of Minister Sidhu that about Rs. 34 crore had already reached the Municipal Corporation from GMADA and now Minister Sidhu had asked GMADA for an additional amount of Rs. 50 crore for the development works of Mohali Municipal Corporation Which is expected to reach Mohali Municipal Corporation soon. The Deputy Mayor also termed the decision of the Finance and Contract Committee to increase the amount of resolutions to be passed from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 1 crore as historic and said that it would further strengthen the financial decision making power of Mohali Municipal Corporation. And this will enable faster development.
