DDC Bandipora for saturation of farmers under KCC Scheme

District Development Commissioner Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmed today directed the Department of Agriculture and other allied departments to ensure cent percent coverage of farmers under Kissan Credit Card Scheme and other farmer welfare schemes to empower them under ‘Pradhan Mantri Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Scheme’.Dr Owais said this while inaugurating a day long Kissan Mela organized as part of Kissan Pakhwada activities initiated by the Department of Agriculture in collaboration with allied departments, banks at Sumbal today.On the occasion, DDC Bandipora distributed Kissan Credit Cards among 150 farmers and also handed over 28 paddy thrashers among progressive farmers under different schemes.He also distributed 12 chaff cutters and 06 milking machines among Self Help Groups sponsored by JKSRLM.The DDC felicitated 11 progressive farmers who had used innovative techniques for cultivation vegetables and other agricultural produce and sanctioned letter of KCC were also given out among dairy farmers while 235 aspirant farmers who showed interest in centrally sponsored schemes were registered during the Kissan Mela.The DDC while speaking on the occasion impressed upon the officers and field functionaries to make the programme a grand success by covering all the farmers including those engaged in Horticulture, Diary, Fisheries, Sheep rearing etc. under KCC scheme for their linkage with PM Kisan account.He directed all the departments to intensify mass awareness in their work area regarding farmer’s welfare schemes like KCC, PM Kisan, Pardhan Mantri Fasal Bhima Yojana, Soil Health Card Scheme, Organic Farming and others to achieve the target of doubling the income of farmers by 2022.On the occasion, the DDC was accompanied by Director Animal Husbandry Kashmir Purnima Mittal, Director Horticulture Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, Chief Agriculture Officer Farooq Ahmad, District Agriculture Officer Hafizullah Khurro and other senior officers of the district.
