A group of 110 students, drawn from various government schools of Chenab region districts, today left for Tamil Nadu under Students Exchange Programme of Samagra Shiksha.The students were flagged off by Commissioner/Secretary School Education, Hirdesh Kumar Singh here from Teachers’ Bhawan. The group of touring children, comprising students of High and Higher Secondary levels, hail from Doda, Ramban and Kishtwar. The Secretary, while interacting with the students, informed that the programme aims at to enable them to explore and know about new avenues and facilities of education across the country. He stressed that such tours provide a platform to students to know more about their country, to familiarize with the culture and history of the nation and    encourage them to make friends and interact with their counterparts across other states for a better exposure.Later Dr. Arun Manhas, State Project Director Samagra Shiksha, who was also present, interacted with the students and appreciated the efforts put in by teachers, who managed to escort these students in such harsh weather conditions. Dr. Manhas apprised Commissioner Secretary that Directorate of Samagra Shiksha has send over 3000 students to various parts of country till date and informed that Tamil Nadu is a pairing state for J&K under EK Bharat Shreshth Bharat.  Director School Education Jammu, Anuradha Gupta, also interacted with the students and expressed gratitude to the parents, who managed to send their children for the trip. The Children were highly jubilant for the trip. Among others present at the flag off ceremony were  Chief Education Officer-Jammu, Kulbir Singh;   Field Officer Samagra Shiksha, Peerzada Mushtaq; State Coordinator (Quality) Nazir Reshi and other senior officers of School Education Department.
