Samagra Shikhsa screens Special “Kanno Dekhi Movie” for special children

A special Kanno Dekhi Movie “Lage Raho Munna Bhai”- for visually impaired children, was today screened by Directorate of Samagra Shiksha in association with Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM, here at Platinum Cineplex, Palm Islands, Canal Road.The movie is specially designed with background voice narrations, which help visually impaired persons to understand the storyline and enjoy the movie through ears. This is modern technology intervention developed for facilitation of Persons with Disabilities so as to provide them with a platform of inclusiveness.Around 200 children from various government and private schools watched the special movie. While, most of the students were visually impaired, other children also participated in the event.Children were jubilant and delighted to watch the special movie as it was first ever experience for many to sit in the theatre. During the interval, an interactive musical programme was organized by Nishant and other RJs of Radio Mirchi.Commissioner/Secretary School Education, Hirdesh Kumar also attended the event and interacted with children present. The Secretary lauded the initiative taken by Samagra Shiksha and Radio Mirchi for the special children.Hirdesh, while addressing the children and the media persons, revealed that Department of School Education is taking innovative steps to benefit students in a holistic way. ”Our focus is to provide equal platform for children from all quarters of society for their education” he added. He urged the parents, who had come along the children, to obtain maximum benefits from the existing schemes of Samagra Shiksha, for better educational support of their wards. The secretary asked the officers of Samagra Shiksha to organise more events and programmes that help in overall development of ‘Children with Special Need’ (CWSN) in future as well.

Later, State Project Director Samagra Shiksha, Dr. Arun Manhas, congratulated the whole team of Inclusive Education and Radio Mirchi 98.5, who successfully organized the programme in an organized manner. Dr. Manhas offered his special thanks to Radio Mirchi for promoting the event on-air through their Radio for a wider outreach of the event. Dr. Manhas revealed that Directorate of Samagra Shiksha has been taking various steps for the welfare of Children with Special Needs and as a result their enrolment in both government as well as private schools of J&K is increasing. Citing a best practice, Dr. Manhas expressed his gratitude to Jammu Sanskriti School, where more than 40 CWSN have been enrolled and provided education at par with non-CWSN. Dr. Arun, while mentioning about Special Educators, also expressed his thanks to all those who were involved in organising the programme.Director School Education Jammu, Anuradha Gupta, also interacted with the children and encouraged them. She apprised that the Department is striving hard to designate all the schools as ‘Inclusive Education’ where CWSN shall be provided education at par with non-CWSN.Earlier, State Head Radio Mirchi, Summit Kakkar welcomed   Commissioner/Secretary and State Project Director, Samagra Shiksha.He said that Radio Mirchi is committed to serve the society and especially the deprived section. He thanked Dr. Ravinder Jangral, State Coordinator-Inclusive Education, who coordinated with Radio Mirchi for conducting the event.  Kakkar also expressed gratitude to Chairperson CWC, Shalini Gupta, and all the members who took the initiative for escorting children from Orphanage Home for watching the special movie.Among others who were present at the event were, Chatanya Gupta, Resource Persons, Special Educators and Staff from Jammu Sanskriti School.
