To keep check on the spread of vector-borne disease in the flood-hit villages, the district administration on Monday started distributing mosquito nets to the people in the flood- affected areas.Divulging the details, the deputy commissioner Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma said that as the water has started receding in these areas, the distribution of mosquito nets was necessary to protect the people from vector-borne diseases.He said that the fogging by six machines are continue on the boats in flood-hit villages to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes in these villages.He said that the fogging is already being carried out into the villages including Jania, Jania Chahal, Mehrajwala, Gatti Raipur, Mandi Kasu, Mandala Channa, Mundi Sheriyan, Mandi Kaalu, Gata Mandi Kasu, Mandala, Naseerpur and others.Mr Sharma said that the portable machines are being taken on the boats to the areas still inundated with water to control the any kind of vector-borne diseases as in the medical camps, the people are also being examined and cases of diarrhoea, fever, throat infections and skin problems are being reported.He told that the already the health teams are visiting house to house on boats and medicines are being given to the affected people.He said that the district administration is committed to provide the relief to the flood-affected people in these hours of crisis.
