हरियाणा के मुख्य निर्वाचन अधिकारी पंकज अग्रवाल ने 18 वर्ष की आयु पूरी कर चुके युवक व युवतियों से आह्वान किया कि वे हरियाणा के विधानसभा चुनावों से पहला अपना वोट अवश्य बनवाएं और लोकतांत्रिक प्रक्रिया में भाग लेकर देश-प्रदेश के विकास में सहयोग करें। उन्होंने कहा कि 25 जुलाई को ड्राफ्ट मतदाता सूचियों का प्रकाशन होगा और 9 अगस्त तक दावें व आपत्तियां दी जा सकती हैं। अंतिम मतदाता सूचियों का प्रकाशन 20 अगस्त, 2024 को होगा।
मुख्य निर्वाचन अधिकारी आज यहां आगामी विधानसभा आम चुनावों के मद्देनजर माध्यमिक शिक्षा, उच्चतर शिक्षा, तकनीकि शिक्षा, श्रम, महिला एवं बाल विकास और सेवा विभाग के अधिकारियों के साथ बैठक कर रहे थे।श्री पंकज अग्रवाल ने कहा कि भारत निर्वाचन आयोग ने मतदाता सूची में नाम शामिल करने की प्रक्रिया को और अधिक सुचारू बनाया है। पहले 1 जनवरी को अर्हथा तिथि मानकर साल में एक बार वोट बनवाने की प्रक्रिया थी, लेकिन अब साल में 4 बार यानि 1 जनवरी, 1 अप्रैल, 1 जुलाई व 1 अक्तूबर को अर्हथा तिथि मानकर नये वोट बनवाए जा सकते हैं।
उन्होंने कहा कि छात्रवृत्ति के लिए जिस प्रकार विद्यार्थियों के लिए एसएमएस जाते हैं, उसी तरह स्कूल मुखिया ये सुनिश्चित करें कि ज्यों ही बच्चे 18 साल की आयु पूरी करता है, बच्चों के पास वोट बनवाने के लिए एसएमएस जाए। खण्ड शिक्षा अधिकारी, जिनको आयोग द्वारा डेडिकेटिड एईआरओ की जिम्मेवारी दी गई है, वे भी लोगों को वोट बनवाने के लिए प्रेरित करें। गुरुग्राम, फरीदाबाद, सोनीपत व पचंकूला में संगठित क्षेत्र के प्रवासी श्रमिकों की संख्या अधिक है, वहां पर श्रम विभाग वोट बनवाने या पता बदलने के लिए अभियान चलाएं।
मुख्य निर्वाचन अधिकारी ने संशोधित मतदाता सूची की तैयारियों को लेकर 27 व 28 जुलाई तथा 3 व 4 अगस्त विशेष तिथियां निर्धारित की गई हैं। इन दिनों बीएलओ विशेष रूप से पोलिंग स्टेशनों पर उपस्थित रहेंगे और लोगों के वोट बनाने का कार्य करेंगे और बूथ लेवल एजेंट भी इन तिथियों पर बीएलओ के साथ संपर्क करें।
श्री पंकज अग्रवाल ने कहा कि 13 जुलाई को भारत निर्वाचन आयोग की टीम भी विधानसभा आम चुनावों की तैयारियों को लेकर हरियाणा का दौरा कर चुकी है। मुख्य निर्वाचन अधिकारी कार्यालय तभी से निरंतर चुनाव की तैयारियों को लेकर सजग है। उन्होंने कहा कि वोटर हेल्पलाइन मोबाइल एप के माध्यम से भी नागरिक अपना वोट बनवा सकते हैं। इसके अलावा, वोटर हेल्पालाइन नंबर-1950 पर कॉल करके भी वोट बनवाने बारे जानकारी हासिल की जा सकती है।
बैठक में अतिरिक्त मुख्य निर्वाचन अधिकारी श्रीमती हेमा शर्मा, संयुक्त मुख्य निर्वाचन अधिकारी श्री अपूर्व, माध्यमिक शिक्षा विभाग की अतिरिक्त निदेशक (प्रशासन) डॉ रिचा राठी, उच्चतर शिक्षा विभाग के संयुक्त निदेशक (प्रशासन) श्री नवदीप सिंह और संयुक्त मुख्य निर्वाचन अधिकारी श्री राजकुमार, सहित अन्य विभागों के अधिकारी उपस्थित थे।

Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Mr. Pankaj Agarwal urged young men and women who have turned 18 years to get enrolled as voters before the Haryana Assembly elections. He emphasized the importance of participating in the democratic process to contribute to the development of the country and the state.
The draft voter lists will be published on July 25, and claims and objections can be submitted until August 9. The final voter lists will be published on August 20, 2024.Mr. Agarwal made these remarks during a meeting with officials from the Secondary Education, Higher Education, Technical Education, Labour, Women and Child Development, and SEWA Departments, in view of the upcoming Vidhan Sabha Elections.
Mr. Pankaj Agarwal said that the Election Commission of India has streamlined the process for adding names to the voter list. Previously, voter registration was conducted once a year, with January 1 as the eligibility date. Now, new registrations can be made four times a year, with eligibility dates on January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1.
He suggested that, similar to how SMS notifications are sent to students for scholarships, school heads should ensure that SMS notifications are sent to students once they turn 18 to remind them to get enrolled as voter. Block Education Officers, who have been designated as dedicated AEROs (Assistant Electoral Registration Officers) by the Commission, should also encourage people to register to vote.
Additionally, given the high number of migrant workers in the organized sector in Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat, and Panchkula, the Labor Department should conduct campaigns in these areas to help workers register or update their addresses on the voter list.
The Chief Electoral Officer has designated special dates July 27, 28, and August 3, 4 for the preparation of the revised voter list. On these days, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will be present at polling stations to assist with voter registration, and booth-level agents should also coordinate with the BLOs.
Mr. Pankaj Agarwal said that on July 13, a team from the Election Commission of India visited Haryana to review preparations for the assembly general elections. Since then, the Chief Electoral Officer's office has remained vigilant in its preparations. Citizens can register to vote using the Voter Helpline mobile app or by calling the Voter Helpline number, 1950, for more information.
Additional Chief Electoral Officer Mrs. Hema Sharma, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Mr. Apoorv, Additional Director (Administration) of Secondary Education Department Dr. Richa Rathi, Joint Director (Administration) of Higher Education Department Mr. Navdeep Singh and Joint Chief Electoral Officer Mr. Rajkumar, along with officers of other departments were also present in the meeting.
