District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal today reviewed the progress of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 during a meeting with the Additional District Election Officer and Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) at her office. Reviewing the status of the exercise, the District Election Officer stressed the need to ensure the timely collection of Enumeration Forms after voters have filled in all the required details.

She said that the digitisation of the collected forms is crucial (by July 24) before the publication of the Draft Electoral Roll, which is scheduled for August 3, 2026. She also directed the EROs to submit proposals for the rationalisation of polling booths having more than 1,200 electors.

She asked them to obtain regular updates from Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and Supervisors and ensure that the proposals are submitted within the stipulated timeframe. Emphasising the importance of voter convenience, Ms. Mittal instructed that all Assured Minimum Facilities (AMFs) must be maintained at the existing polling stations as well as at those proposed for rationalisation. The District Election Officer further reiterated that all BLOs must carry out door-to-door visits to distribute Enumeration Forms and subsequently collect the duly filled forms from the voters to ensure the successful completion of the revision process.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Geetika Singh, Electoral Registration Officer Amit Gupta (SDM Derabassi), Electoral Registration Officer Damandeep Kaur (SDM Mohali), Electoral Registration Officer Gurmeet Singh (SDM Kharar), Election Tehsildar Harpreet Kaur, and other officials.
