In compliance with the directions issued by the Election Commission of India, New Delhi, the district administration of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar is fully prepared to undertake the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 of electoral rolls from June 25, 2026. To apprise the media regarding the schedule, field activities and arrangements made for the exercise, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer, SAS Nagar, Mrs. Komal Mittal, IAS, informed the media in detail about the various time-bound activities to be carried out in the district under the Special Intensive Revision programme aimed at ensuring a more accurate, updated and transparent electoral roll.
Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Komal Mittal stated that as per the programme issued by the Election Commission of India, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct a door-to-door verification campaign from June 25 to July 24, 2026. During this period, BLOs will visit households and provide Enumeration Forms to every voter already enrolled in the electoral roll.
Certain details of the voter will already be pre-filled in the form, and BLOs will also assist voters in completing the form wherever required. She stated that every voter will be required to submit his or her latest photograph along with the Enumeration Form.
However, no other supporting documents are required to be collected from the voter at this stage of the revision process. The Deputy Commissioner further said that if any voter is found absent during the field visit, the BLO concerned will leave an Information Slip along with the Enumeration Form at the residence and also affix a sticker outside the house for identification and follow-up.
She added that each BLO will make at least three visits to collect the filled Enumeration Form so that no eligible voter is left out of the process. Highlighting the scale of the exercise in the district, Mrs. Mittal said that SAS Nagar district has a total of 838 polling stations spread across the Kharar, SAS Nagar and Dera Bassi Assembly Constituencies, and the election machinery has been fully mobilised for the exercise.
A total of 838 BLOs have been deployed to reach out to approximately 8,54,423 voters in the district. She further informed that 3,160 Booth Level Agents (BLAs) have also been appointed by recognised political parties to assist in the revision process and to ensure that the exercise remains transparent, participative and accurate.
She said that the Election Commission has laid special emphasis on careful verification of categories such as Absent, Shifted, Dead and Duplicate Voters(ASDD) voters, so that the electoral rolls can be thoroughly purified and updated. The district administration and field staff have been instructed to pay due attention to such cases during the house-to-house verification process.
Mrs. Mittal informed that, as per the notified schedule of the Election Commission of India, the Draft Electoral Roll will be published on August 3, 2026. Thereafter, claims and objections can be filed from August 3 to September 2, 2026, and the same will be disposed of by the concerned Electoral Registration Officers by September 28, 2026.
The Final Electoral Roll will be published on October 1, 2026. To facilitate voters and provide immediate assistance regarding the Special Intensive Revision process, a District Help Desk and Grievance Redressal Cell has been established at the District Election Office, SAS Nagar.
In addition, Assembly-level grievance cells have also been set up to address voter concerns and resolve field-level issues promptly. Voters may also contact the Toll-Free Helpline 1950 for any information, clarification or grievance related to the revision exercise besides taking the facility of book a call with BLO at ECINET app.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to all voters of the district to extend full cooperation to BLOs and the election staff during this important democratic exercise. She urged every elector to ensure submission of the Enumeration Form to the concerned BLO within the stipulated time so that the electoral rolls can be made more inclusive, accurate, transparent and error-free.
She said that the success of the Special Intensive Revision depends upon active public participation and timely response from voters, and therefore every household should treat the exercise as an important civic responsibility. Election Tehsildar Mrs Harpreet Kaur and officials of the District Election Office were also present during the media briefing.
