BJP National General Secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Chugh welcomed the Maharashtra Government's decision to defer the proposed legislation concerning Takht Sri Hazur Sahib and thanked Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He said Sikh Sangats and various Sikh organisations had demanded wider consultations before any final decision, and the Maharashtra Government had respected these sentiments by deferring the proposed legislation.

Chugh said Takht Sri Hazur Sahib is one of the holiest centres of Sikh faith and every decision relating to its administration should uphold Sikh traditions and the sentiments of the Sangat. He expressed confidence that dialogue and consensus would lead to an acceptable and lasting solution.

Following his election to the Rajya Sabha, 109 Punjabi social, religious and cultural organisations in Delhi organised a grand Punjabi Gaurav Felicitation Ceremony to honour Tarun Chugh and Delhi BJP President and Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presented both leaders with the prestigious Punjabi Gaurav memento on behalf of the Punjabi community.

Addressing the gathering, Chugh said, "Punjabi is not merely a community; it is an idea that always stands ready to serve others." He said the Punjabi community possesses a glorious history of courage and sacrifice spanning over a millennium, and a true Punjabi is one who stands at the forefront during every challenge. He added that Punjab represents courage, resilience, patriotism and an enduring civilisational spirit rather than merely a geographical region.

Expressing gratitude to all 109 organisations and the organisers, Chugh said the affection and trust reposed in him by the Punjabi community would inspire him to work with greater dedication for national service and public welfare. He reaffirmed his commitment to strongly raise issues concerning Punjab, the Punjabi community and national interest in the Rajya Sabha.

The ceremony was attended by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra, MPs Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Yogender Chandolia, Kamaljeet Sehrawat, Bansuri Swaraj, Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi, Ministers Manjinder Singh Sirsa and Ashish Sood, former Governor Jagdish Mukhi, Sant Ajay Bhai Ji, legislators, councillors, industrialists, social leaders and representatives of leading Punjabi organisations.
