Under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government has been continuously taking appropriate and people-friendly steps for the empowerment of women, bringing real change in their lives. Sharing this information, MLA from Amritsar East constituency, Mrs. Jeevan Jyot Kaur, stated that the Punjab Government has spent approximately ₹2,042 crore on free bus travel for women from the financial year 2022–23 to 2025–26.

This includes ₹495 crore in 2022–23, ₹497.50 crore in 2023–24, ₹450 crore in 2024–25, and ₹600 crore in 2025–26. Mrs. Jeevan Jyot Kaur further informed that under this scheme, nearly 12 million (1.20 crore) free bus journeys are availed by women across Punjab every month, clearly reflecting the popularity and effectiveness of this initiative.

She said that this facility is not just about free travel, but also represents a new wave of freedom and confidence in women’s lives. Women are now able to access education, employment, and healthcare services more easily without financial worries, making them more independent and empowered.

She added that women’s empowerment is the foundation of a progressive society, and the Punjab Government is working with full commitment in this direction. She further stated that in this budget, the Mann Government has taken another major step by deciding to provide ₹1,000 per month to women and ₹1,500 per month to women belonging to Scheduled Castes.

She assured that more effective and people-centric initiatives for women’s welfare will continue in the future.
