MLA from Amritsar East Assembly Constituency, Mrs. Jeevanjot Kaur, said that more than 3 lakh devotees from Punjab have so far visited various holy places across the country under the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme launched by the Punjab Government. Highlighting the significance of the scheme, MLA Jeevanjot Kaur said that this initiative has played an important role in fulfilling the spiritual aspirations of the people of Punjab.
She said that connecting with God is the ultimate purpose of human life and that this scheme is proving helpful in strengthening people spiritually and religiously. She further stated that the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, is fully committed to the welfare of the people and to respecting their religious sentiments.
The objective of governance, she said, is not merely to administer the state but also to promote and uphold the cultural and spiritual values of society. MLA Jeevanjot Kaur informed that a total of 304,784 devotees have benefited from 7,390 pilgrimage trips so far, reflecting the extensive reach and popularity of the scheme.
She added that the initiative has proved to be a boon, especially for senior citizens aged 50 years and above, who were previously unable to afford such pilgrimages due to financial constraints. She further stated that the scheme is completely free of cost and is open to devotees belonging to every caste, religion and community.
For the convenience of pilgrims, a fleet of 95 deluxe air-conditioned buses has been deployed across the state, providing transportation from locations near their homes in villages, towns and cities directly to various pilgrimage destinations. She said that under the scheme, devotees can visit several holy and historical places, including Sri Harmandir Sahib, Shri Durgiana Temple, Bhagwan Shri Valmiki Tirath Sthal, Jallianwala Bagh, the Partition Museum, and Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib at Sri Anandpur Sahib, along with other nearby religious sites.
MLA Jeevanjot Kaur appealed to the people of Amritsar East constituency as well as the entire state to make maximum use of the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme and visit these sacred places with their families to attain spiritual peace and blessings. She further stated that the entire cost of travel, accommodation, meals, medical assistance and essential kits is borne by the Punjab Government.
