The Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, has granted administrative approval for the upgradation of the Chapparchiri Khurd to Chapparchiri Kalan road, a vital approach to the historic Chapparchiri site.

Expressing his appreciation to the Chief Minister for fulfilling a long-standing demand, MLA SAS Nagar Kulwant Singh stated that the road serves as a crucial parallel route to the Kharar-Landra road. With the commencement of renovation work, the road will help alleviate traffic congestion on the Kharar-Landra corridor too.

The project entails upgrading the 18-feet-wide road, spanning 2.05 km, at a cost of Rs 377.45 lakh. The scope of work includes the installation of 80 mm interlocking pavers and a five-year maintenance provision amounting to Rs 8.52 lakh. According to the MLA, the road has been in need of repairs since 2018 and endures heavy traffic due to its strategic connection from Mohali to the Kharar-Landra road.

As a temporary measure, in anticipation of the Fateh March scheduled for tomorrow, immediate non-bituminous patchwork has been commenced by PWD to facilitate commuters, added MLA. The repair work shall be completed by today evening.

MLA Kulwant Singh further assured that several other link roads in the area will also undergo renovation and repair in the coming days, reinforcing the government’s commitment to infrastructure development.
