Amar Shaheed Baba Ajit Singh and Jujhar Singh Memorial College of Pharmacy, Bela, an Autonomous College, marked World Water Day with an array of events aimed at raising awareness about glacier conservation and water preservation. 

The event, organized by Care and Cure club brought together students and faculty to discuss very important and the pressing issue of global water scarcity and glacier depletion in today’s world. The theme of the events was, “Save Our Glaciers”. 

Dr. Satnam Singh, Coordinator of the club in his welcome address highlighted the importance of preserving glaciers for the well-being of individuals and communities worldwide. Assistant Professor Jaspreet Kaur and Assistant Professor Harpreet Kaur declared the theme for events.

The programme events included Hand written Slogans & Quotes, Awareness Ideas and videos for Water & Glacier Preservation. Presentations and discussions focused on sustainable water usage, reducing pollution, and strategies to slow glacier melting. 

Students showcased creative posters and videos with impactful ideas and messages on water conservation. The highlight of the programme was 3D Visual Video Presentation specially designed for visual experience, stressing upon the impact of climate change on glaciers and the importance of immediate action.

The event was assessed by an expert panel comprising of Dr. Navjot Kaur, Assistant Professor Ravinder Kaur and Assistant Professor Rupinder Kaur. The event was well co-ordinated by Assistant Professor Navjit Kaur and Assistant Professor Ramandeep Kaur. 

The judges declared in Slogans competition positions - Prem Kumar B.Sc MLS as first, second Sapna Rani B.Sc & Gurleen Kaur B. pharmacy 4th sem and third Shivraj Kumar B. pharmacy 6th sem. In Awareness ideas, first position Jaismeen Kaur, Sapna Rani second and Arshdeep Saini from B.Sc MLS got the third position. 

Best Video based on Water and Glacier preservation was awarded to Ms. Jaismeen Kaur B.SC MLS. Dr. (Prof.) Shailesh Sharma, Director, college gave away the prizes and appreciation certificates to the winners and participants. 

He said the event successfully raised awareness about glacier preservation, inspiring students and faculty to adopt sustainable practices and advocated for water conservation. He said World Water Day is a call to action for governments, organizations, and individuals to prioritize water conservation and management initiatives, as billions of people worldwide lack access to safe and clean water, and many places are experiencing water scarcity and pollution.
