As India witnesses unprecedented infrastructure growth through initiatives such as the Smart Cities Mission, AMRUT 2.0, and PM GatiShakti, the role of architects and planners is evolving beyond designing buildings to creating sustainable, technology enabled, and people centric urban spaces.

Responding to these changing industry needs, Lovely Professional University (LPU) offers Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) and Bachelor of Planning programmes that prepare students for careers in the rapidly evolving built environment sector. The programmes blend strong academic foundations with practical learning through studio based teaching, design workshops, site visits, industry interactions, and consultancy assignments.

Supported by advanced design studios, digital fabrication facilities, AI enabled design tools, and digital platforms such as Building Information Modelling (BIM), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and Computer Aided Design (CAD), students develop expertise in architectural design, sustainable planning, and urban development while building the technical, creative, and interdisciplinary skills required for contemporary architecture and planning professions.

Delivered through LPU's Edu-Revolution framework, the School of Architecture and Planning integrates classroom learning with live projects, research, professional internships, international exposure, and interdisciplinary collaboration. As infrastructure projects become increasingly complex, students are encouraged to explore architecture beyond buildings by engaging with urban mobility, public spaces, landscape planning, sustainability, and smart city development, preparing them for careers across residential, commercial, institutional, transportation, and urban infrastructure sectors.

Strengthening this global outlook, five architecture students represented India at the prestigious Summer School Programme at Russia's Ural Federal University under a fully funded scholarship. Students have also participated in semester exchange programmes at the University of Tasmania, Australia, while the School continues to foster a multicultural learning environment by welcoming international exchange students from institutions including the University of Alcalá, Spain.

The Department of Planning has further enhanced industry readiness through its distinctive 1+1 Industry Academia Integrated Learning Programme, under which nine M.Tech Urban Planning students from the 2025–27 batch are undertaking a year long industry immersion.

Three students are training with VK Supreme, Jaipur, while six have joined Tila Consultants, Mohali, contributing to the preparation of Master Plans for cities including Kanpur, Lucknow, Moradabad, Mohali, and Agra. Each student receives a monthly stipend of ₹30,000 while gaining valuable professional experience.

The programme's international engagement extends further through collaborative industry projects, with eleven students from Africa currently undertaking an online internship with Stesalit Systems Ltd., Kolkata. As part of the initiative, they are contributing to the preparation of Master Plans for five cities in Bihar, gaining hands on exposure to large scale urban planning while collaborating across international and multicultural teams.

Admissions are currently open for the Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.), Integrated B.Plan.–M.Plan., and M.Tech Urban Planning programmes, offering aspiring architects and planners an opportunity to learn through an ecosystem that combines academic excellence with industry engagement, innovation, and global exposure.
