Chairperson District Development Council, Ramban, Dr. Shamshad Shan today inaugurated Cultivation of Lavender crop at Tungali Morh in Subdivision Gool under Aroma Cultivation. The Chairperson was accompanied by DDC member Gool, Sakhi Mohammad, SDAO, Naveen Kumar, AEO Sangaldan, Vikram Singh, PRIs and general public.
Addressing the gathering, the Chairperson highlighted the economic importance of Lavender crop and said that there is a huge potential to scale up the lavender cultivation in the area. She further said that cultivation of Lavender on Commercial lines and participation of educated youth in this allied wing of agriculture would help in achieving socio-economic transformation of the farming community.
The Chairperson also interacted with the locals and listened to their issues of developmental needs. She also issued on-the-spot directions to the concerned for their early redressal. Later, it was informed that 2 lakh Lavender plants for cultivation in the Ramban district have been provided to the farmers by the CSIR-IIIM under Aroma Cultivation.
