The Punjab government led by Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Mann is making all-out efforts to protect the lives and property of the people of the state.  Working in this regard, under the direction of Labor Department Minister Anmol Gagan Mann, the safety seminar in chemical and other industries was inaugurated today at Sector -31A, Chandigarh by Secretary of Labor Department Mr. Manvesh Singh Sidhu.

Labor Department Secretary Mr. Manvesh Singh Sidhu in his inaugural address highlighted the need for such seminars and emphasized that every major accident-prone chemical and other industries should update their emergency plans to overcome any untoward situation. He invited the participants to take advantage of the welfare schemes of the Punjab Labor Welfare Board by contributing as per the provisions.

He also informed the participants that the department is proposing to constitute expert panels of persons with chemical engineering background not below the level of associate professors of leading technical institutes of the state.  He appreciated the initiative taken by the officials of Directorate of Factories, Punjab and Punjab Industrial Safety Council for organizing this seminar.

Shri Tej Pratap Singh Phoolka, Labor Commissioner-cum-Director Factories Punjab welcomed the chief guests and participants.  In his welcome speech, he emphasized that safety should become a habit.  Every chemical factory should prepare an on-site emergency plan to deal with any situation that may arise during the operation of the factory.

Saini, Director, National Civil Defence College, Govt. of India, Ministry of Home, Nagpur, Mr. Vinay Pathak, G.M.(Tech), M/s. 3M India Ltd., Gurugram, Dr. Devendra Kunwar, Dy.G.M. (IC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.,  Faridabad (Haryana), Mr. Yash Pal, Director Health, Safety & Environment Consultant Mohali, Dr. Prince Kumar Paul, MD Cardiology, Max Hospital, S.A.S. Nagar, Mr. Anil Kumar Shaarma, Safety Officer M/s. NFL, Bathinda Dr. Parveen Mudgil, CMO, M/s. HMEL, Bathinda, Mr. Narinder  Kumar Bassi, Dy. Chief Wardon, Civil Defence, Bathinda and Mr. Pankaj Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, Visible Safety Solution, New Delhi, are main faculties for the programme.   Er. Narinder Singh, Joint Director of Factories, Punjab coordinated this programme.
