With a view to make the working of government hospitals better and more effective, Civil surgeon Dr Adarshpal Kaur today morning paid a surprise visit to District Hospital here. She took a round of all the departments of the hospital and checked the availability of medicines and other essential equipment. 

She enquired from the patients and their attendants about test and treatment facilities in the hospital. She had an elaborate round of the hospital, especially the Labour Room-OT complex, Emergency Ward, Medicine store room, Surgery Ward, OPD Complex, Gynae & OBEST, Laboratory, Radiology unit and other wards. 

She also reviewed the work of generating OPD slips and also checked various registers.The Civil Surgeon directed the Senior Medical Officers (SMO) and doctors to provide best of the health facilities to the people and any kind of negligence in providing the medical facilities would not be tolerated at all. 

She asked doctors to prescribe only generic and other medicines which were available in the hospital pharmacy and not make patients buy medicines from private chemist shops.Dr Adarshpal Kaur also stressed upon the effective implementation of various health programs like Care Companion Program (CCP), De-addiction, Kayakalap etc so that people can get full benefit of the health schemes. 

Civil surgeon stressed on the need for doctors to behave well with patients and provide proper services so that their gesture would make them feel better. Senior Medical Officer Dr Vijay Bhagat, Dr. H.S. Cheema, Dr. Parminder Singh and other officials were also present.
