Governor Bandaru Dattatraya said that in the present era of science, there was hardly any field where new technology was not being used properly with scientific research. Therefore, it becomes necessary to create a suitable environment to develop scientific thinking so that future generations could take advantage of scientific research along with global competition.He was speaking during the closing ceremony of the state level Gyan-Vigya Mela in Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Vikasnagar organised by the Himachal Shikha Simiti, here today.The Governor said the real objective of the education was to enhance the capability of the students and inculcate respect for our culture and traditions.  He said both science and culture should be coordinated in life. Science should be used for progress and not for destruction.

He said such programmes help in motivating the students for adopting scientific approach which was need of the hour as today our scientists were looking beyond NASA. Whether it was agriculture or information technology, infrastructure development or transport sector, we have stood before the developed nations in the world.He expressed happiness that the Himachal Shiksha Samiti was spreading the light of disciplined and ritualistic knowledge throughout Himachal Pradesh. He said it was a matter of contentment that the Samiti was presently running 217 schools with intake of more than 30 thousand students and these schools were also functioning in rural areas, tribal and inaccessible areas in the state.The Governor also went around the exhibition put up by the school children and gave away the prizes to the meritorious students.General Secretary of the Samiti Dila Ram Chauhan, Principle Lekhraj Thakur also spoke on the occasion.Organising Secretary of the State BJP Pawan Rana, Patron, Himachal Shiksha Simiti Achhhar Singh Thakur, Chairman, Himachal Shiksha Simiti Devi Roop Sharma, General Secretary Dila Ram Chauhan, Vice Chairman Gulab Singh Mehta were present on the occasion among others.
