Haryana Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya today emphasized the significance of effectively implementing the National Education Policy-2020 and its positive impact on promoting skill development and employability of students. He called upon the Higher Educational Institutions in Haryana to prioritize the policy's implementation.

Shri Dattatraya was addressing the Inauguration Ceremony at J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, today. The Governor dedicated two student-centric projects in the University, with a total investment of over Rs 30 crore. 

Haryana Higher Education Minister, Shri Moolchand Sharma was the chief guest in the program, while Additional Chief Secretary of Higher Education, Government of Haryana, Shri Anand Mohan Sharan was present as the guest of honour.

In his address, Governor Shri Dattatraya emphasized the significance of J.C. Bose University as a prestigious educational institution in the State. He commended the university's commitment to enhancing higher education opportunities for students through the implementation of new projects. 

The Governor acknowledged the commendable efforts made by the university in expanding its infrastructural facilities in recent years. Furthermore, he expressed his satisfaction with the University's focus on promoting research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Addressing the Program, Vice Chancellor Prof. Sushil Kumar Tomar welcomed the distinguished guests, and apprised the Governor about the initiative taken by the University for the Implementation of NEP-2020. He said that the University has introduced three and four-year undergraduate degree programs, aligned with the provisions of NEP-2020, allowing students to opt for a minor degree program along with the major discipline and the flexibility of Multiple Entry and Exit options.

Referring to the expansion and future plans of the University, Vice Chancellor Prof. Tomar said that the University administration is making continuous efforts for the expansion of the second campus of the University to be built on the Gurugram-Faridabad road. In this regard, permission has been sought from the Forest Department for initiating construction activities, which is awaited. 

He said that the second campus is the main focus of the future plans of the University, in which the University plans to introduce new programs on advanced technology, interdisciplinary courses and research programs. In addition to this, the University is also working on a project to construct a new multi-storied hostel with a capacity of about 800 students in place of the old boys' hostel in the existing campus.

Elaborating the initiatives taken by the University for promoting girl child education and student welfare, the Vice-Chancellor said that the University has ensured 25 percent horizontal reservation in admission for girl students and one seat each for a single girl child in all the courses conducted at the University level. Apart from this, the University has decided to start a Research Journal by the name of JC Bose Journal of Science and Engineering. 

The editorial work of the research journal will be managed by the female faculty of the University. He said that the University has been trying to evolve such a system that no child is deprived of education due to lack of resources. 

Besides Government schemes, the University helps students to get scholarships through social organization and alumni association 'MOB', he added. In his speech, the Higher Education Minister, Shri Moolchand Sharma shared his personal connection with JC Bose University, having observed it as an educational institution since his childhood. 

He expressed his deep commitment to supporting the progress of the University in his current role as the Minister of Higher Education. The Minister acknowledged the implementation of the National Education Policy-2020, driven by the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. 

He highlighted Haryana's ambitious target to implement NEP-2020 by 2025 and expressed his confidence in the University's pivotal role in its successful execution. During his address, Mr. Anand Mohan Sharan emphasized the effective implementation of NEP-2020 in Haryana. 

He highlighted the state's commitment to achieving the objectives of NEP-2020 even before the targeted timeline of 2030 set by the Central Government. He proudly announced that starting from the academic session of 2024, Haryana will achieve 70 percent implementation of NEP-2020, demonstrating the state's proactive approach towards educational reforms. 

Mr. Sharan congratulated JC Bose University for its new projects and emphasized the interconnected progress of Faridabad and the University. Earlier, the Higher Education Minister, Shri Moolchand Sharma, along with the Additional Chief Secretary, Higher Education, Mr. Anand Mohan Sharan, unveiled the information booklet highlighting the Minor Degree Courses introduced by the University as per the provisions of the National Education Policy-2020 (NEP-2020). The release of this booklet signifies the university's proactive efforts in aligning its curriculum with the goals of NEP-2020.

At the end of the program, the Registrar, Dr. Sunil Kumar Garg expressed his gratitude and proposed a vote of thanks, acknowledging the presence and support of all dignitaries and participants. The function was also addressed by Faridabad MLA Mr. Narendra Gupta, Badkhal MLA Mrs. Seema Trikha, Tigaon MLA Mr. Rajesh Nagar. 

The Vice Chancellor of Gurugram University Prof. Dinesh Kumar, Vice Chancellor of Shri Vishwakarma Skill University Shri Raj Nehru, and eminent members of the University's Alumni Association were also present.
