Haryana Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya today called upon the youth on National Youth Day to dedicate their lives to the society and work for the upliftment of the underprivileged. In this way, the youth will be able to contribute in carrying forward the life ideals of Swami Vivekananda, which will be a true tribute to him.
The Governor Shri Dattatreya was addressing the 'Youth Dialogue-2024' Program which was organized by the J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, to mark the occasion of National Youth Day, commemoration of the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, here today. Haryana Higher Education Minister Shri Moolchand Sharma was the guest of honour in the Program. Faridabad MLA Shri Narendra Gupta, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sushil Kumar Tomar, Registrar Dr. Meha Sharma, Dean Student Welfare Prof. Munish Vashishtha, President of the University's Alumni Association YMCA MOB, Shri Sukhdev Singh were also present on this occasion.
Earlier, the Governor Shri Dattatraya inaugurated the program by lighting the traditional lamp and paid tribute to Swami Vivekananda by offering flowers on his portrait. During the program, the students of the university showcased their talent through various cultural programs and presented their views on the life ideals of Swami Vivekananda, which was appreciated wholeheartedly by the Governor.
The Governor Shri Dattatraya said that Swami Vivekananda was a true 'Karmayogi' and he had full faith in the youth of this country. He strongly believed that youth could change the destiny of India through their hard work, dedication and spiritual strength. Referring to Swami Vivekananda's message to the youth, he said that Swami Vivekananda wanted such youth to lead the country who had muscles as hard as iron and nerves as strong as steel.
They should have a big heart. In this way he tried to inculcate the basic values in the youth. The Governor said that today's youth are completely focused on intellectual skills, due to which they are becoming physically weak. Through the program, he called upon all the Universities of the State to make it mandatory for the students to spend at least one hour on the field and engage in fitness activities. He urged to promote Fit India Program initiated by the Government.
He said that if the body is healthy then everything can be achieved. He said that the youth should engage themselves with activities like gym, yoga, meditation and Surya Namaskar. The Governor Shri Dattatraya drew parallels between Swami Vivekananda and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, emphasizing their shared commitment to gaining recognition for Indian culture.
Both figures, he noted, have made significant strides in achieving world-wide acknowledgment, highlighting a common dedication to projecting India's cultural richness globally. It is of the vision of Prime Minister Shri Modi that the country should become a developed India by the year 2047.
Referring to projections from International Financial Institutions, he noted the anticipation of India reaching a $30 trillion economy by 2050. Emphasizing the pivotal role of the youth in realizing this vision, the Governor underscored the need for their active contribution to achieving the goal of a developed India.
The Governor highlighted India's emergence as the world's largest startup ecosystem, with the average age of youth entrepreneurs being less than 35 years. Encouragingly, he suggested that if this trend continues, achieving the goal of a developed India is within reach. Stressing the importance of youth cooperation, the Governor shared inspirational stories of Swami Vivekananda, praising the university's efforts in instilling high values among the youth through the Vivekananda Manch initiative.
This acknowledgment underscores the role of education institutions in shaping values and fostering the spirit of progress among the younger generation. In his address to the program, Haryana Higher Education Minister Shri Moolchand Sharma emphasized the importance of drawing inspiration from the life of Swami Vivekananda for today's youth.'
He proudly noted that Haryana state is at the forefront in various fields, including agriculture, sports, defense, and industry, with the youth playing a significant role. Minister Sharma highlighted the remarkable statistic that every 10th soldier in the Indian Army hails from Haryana. While not explicitly naming Punjab, he alluded to the challenges faced by youth in neighboring states due to drug addiction, stressing the urgency of imparting good values to prevent this prevalent issue.
Minister Sharma commended Faridabad district as a major industrial hub, not only in Haryana but in the entire Asian region, said that J.C. Bose University has played a significant role in the development of Faridabad Industrial region. He applauded its significant role in providing value-based education to the youth.
The Higher Education Minister urged the youth to focus on acquiring skills, emphasizing the limited number of government jobs available in the state, amounting to quarter to only three lakh. Recognizing the challenge of providing government jobs to all, he encouraged the youth to consider entrepreneurship as an alternative. Rather than merely seeking jobs, the Minister advocated for the youth to aspire to become job providers, stressing the importance of developing capabilities and skills that contribute to the growth of the entrepreneurial landscape.
Addressing the program, Vice Chancellor Prof. Sushil Kumar Tomar highlighted the significance of national character and dedicated service towards the nation, drawing parallels with the biographies of Lord Shri Ram, Bhagat Singh, Vivekananda, and Panna Dhay. He emphasized that these great figures prioritized the nation's interest. Prof. Tomar underscored that J.C. Bose University is committed to instilling national values alongside engineering and science studies, recognizing the importance of fostering a sense of responsibility among the youth.
Addressing contemporary challenges, the Vice Chancellor identified various types of pollution, including mental pollution. He asserted that resolving mental pollution could address a significant portion of overall pollution issues. Prof. Tomar praised the pivotal role of teachers in imparting elevated thoughts to the youth, emphasizing that with the largest youth population and the third-largest economy globally; India can reach new heights with the right guidance for its youth.
The Vice Chancellor also highlighted the role of educational institutions in skill development, expressing the University's commitment to the National Education Policy-2020 and the introduction of minor degree courses. The program concluded with Prof. Munish Vashishtha, the Dean of Student Welfare, presenting the vote of thanks.
