Member Legislative Council, Dr. Shehnaz Ganai, today termed education as key to empower the women socially, economically, culturally and politically as well while exhorting the females to actively participate in all spheres of life as they have the potential and decision making power to lead the society. The MLC, while speaking at the three day “National Women’s Parliament” organised by the Andra Pradesh State Legislative Assembly and Government of Andra Pradesh at Amravati for women legislatures and the parliamentarians from across the country.Stressed for empowerment of women at all levels Dr Shehnaz said that constitution guarantees equal rights to all its citizens but due to lack of proper knowledge about these rights there are women who still are deprived of their fundamental rights. There is a need to raise awareness among the women especially the rural females regarding their rights and responsibilities so that they too live a dignified life.

Quoting famous couplet of great poet of the subcontinent Dr Alama Iqbal, “Wajood-e- Zan SE he Tasuvur-e-Kinat me rang” (Dr Iqbal RA) "It is the existence of woman which is giving colour and thus recognition to the concept of Universe", Dr Ganai said that the best way to empower women is to change the mind set in our homes so as to ensure that there is no discrimination with them on various issues. We all have to work for social, political and economic development of women, she added.Dr Ganai complimented the Chief Minister of Andra Pradesh for extending complete support in organizing the such an educative National Women’s Parliament, which is a politically neutral platform for the women across regions, religions, caste, culture, class, rural urban back grounds and from diverse fields like politics, social sector, education, sports,  media, arts & culture, judiciary and young aspiring students to stage their experiences, share knowledge and research in the field of women’s social economic and political empowerment.
