Dr Shehnaz Ganai Ex MLC today visited Panchayat Dingla in Poonch to listen to the grievances of the people of the area, where large gathering including ladies had gathered to welcome the leader. While listening to the grievances the people of the area complained about non supply of water to village Jangyaar for the last one week by the PHE.Dr Ganai took up the matter with the Concerned authorities and also with Dy Commissioner Poonch and informed him that the water being lifted Bore to the water reservoir for distribution has been stopped by the authorities from the last one week, for unknown reasons, and the Dy Commissioner assured that a team will be deputed to inquire into the incident of non supply of water and assured that the water will be supplied at an earliest possible time.Dr Ganai said that the Government should focus on socio-economic empowerment of the people, especially those living in hilly, remote and far-flung areas, rather than devoting their time to find the ways in withdrawing the subsidies being given to weaker sections of the society.
Dr Shehnaz said that five prime sectors of public concern power, road connectivity, drinking water supply, healthcare and education need special focus for comprehensive development. She said that Government should consider the demands and requirements of people about upgradation of basic amenities in rural and farflung areas said Dr Ganai.While referring to the women who had gathered on the occasion to press for their demands, Dr Ganai said that women empowerment is necessary and for empowering women we need to change mindset in our homes.Dr Ganai said that though we are the largest democracy, but still women find themselves unrepresented and far-removed from decision making levels. Women face many political, socio economic, ideological and psychological obstacles. There is a dire need to remove these obstacles for their equal participation in all the spheres of life. We will have to ensure that young girl students realize potential, guide and nurture them so that they believe, there is a bright future that awaits them.
