Dr Shehnaz Ganai Ex MLC, today held a meeting at Panchayat Dera Dullian,a remote area in Poonch District, in which all Panches, Sarpanches of the area which included Lady Sarpanch Mussarat Qazi, Panches Javed, Maroof, Harvinder Singh, Manzoor Qazi, Chowdhary Sain, village chowkidaar, besides villagers including females were present on the occasion and showed their full faith in the leadership of Dr Ganai.Congratulating the newly elected Panches and Sarpanches, Dr Shehnaz said that people have reposed highest faith and trust in you. Your success is in your befitting performance, she said and added that the success of Panchayati Raj lies in the sincere, honest and efficient functioning of the elected panchayat members. While speaking on the occasion Dr Ganai said that our villages lack basic essential amenities which include provision for uninterrupted power supply, potable drinking water, road connectivity, better medicare, etc. There is no PHC or Sub Centre in the area and even there is acute shortage of staff in High School Dera Dullain, and asked the newly elected Panches and Sarpanches to devote their strength for the uplift of the area.Dr Ganai said panchayat system is answer to many problems that people face at the village level. 

It will also act as an important tool to reduce the chances of corruption and help completion of schemes in a fixed timeline. Honesty and sincerity are the basic ingredients of a viable and efficient panchayat system, she added.Dr Ganai urged the Government to consider the recommendation of the State Legislative Council which has passed a resolution for providing 5 Marlas of Land to the families living near Border/LOC.Further with regard to the compensation to be paid to those villagers whose land is falling beyond fencing along LOC, Dr Ganai urged the government to provide them Ex gratia relief, and demanded that even the old cases of Ex gratia relief have not been settled.Dr Ganai said that responsiveness of PRI, to the needs and aspirations of the people, are imperative to good governance. Democracy depends upon the equality of all human beings, their right to participate in social and political transformation and the right to development, to live in dignity.Dr Ganai said that, Panchayats can play very vital role in the process of political legitimisation and develop a sense of public participation for the best implementation of the political as well as the social and economic integrity of the local environments.
