Punjab Irrigation Minister Sharanjit Singh Dhillon today laid the foundation stone of a development project worth Rs 6.75 crore on Dehlon Road area of Sahnewal, today. This project is related to water supply and sewerage and would be completed in seven months time. Mr Dhillon said that once this project is completed, it would benefit a large number of area residents.While addressing the gathering after laying the foundation stone of this project, Mr Sharanjit Singh Dhillon said that this particular water supply and sewerage project would be completed with a cost of Rs 6.75 crore. He said that once complete, it would benefit a large number of area residents as this was one of their long pending demand. He said that very soon, entire Sahnewal constituency would have 100 percent sewerage and water supply.

He said that with a slew of development projects, Sahnewal is now amongst the best constituencies of the state. He said that some of the other development projects in Sahnewal include a sewerage and water supply development project worth Rs 9.06 crore, Sewerage Treatment Plant project worth Rs 8.35 crore, construction of three overhead reservoirs with cost of Rs 1.62 crore, main pumping station with cost of Rs 8.16 crore and yesterday, a 20 MVA power grid constructed with a cost of Rs 8 crore was inaugurated.Mr Dhillon said that development projects worth several crores have been carried out in Sahnewal and many more are underway. He said that one of the long pending demand of area residents, the Rail Over Bridge (ROB) on Sahnewal-Kohara Road, was also completed during the tenure of Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janta Party government.
