Punjab Irrigation Minister and Sahnewal MLA Sharanjit Singh Dhillon today said that it was the Congress party and its leaders which orchestrated the 1984 Sikh Genocide. While accusing both Congress and Aam Aadmi Party leaders of using this emotionally sensitive issue for petty political gains, Mr Dhillon said that the Punjabis and especially Sikhs very well know as to who was responsible for the Sikh Genocide of 1984 .Dhillon said this while speaking to media persons after burning the effigies of Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Capt Amarinder Singh at Sahnewal, today. He said that both the Congress and AAP has stooped so low that they are now politicising the Sikh Genocide of 1984. He said that its wrong to term it as "Riots", because in this case, thousands of unarmed Sikhs were targeted and killed by the Congress leaders with active support of the then Congress government.

Mr Dhillon said that people of Punjab and especially the Sikhs know the real face of Congress party and that is why they would never fall prey to their petty politics.Sharanjit Singh Dhillon said that it was the same Congress party which, through the Operation Blue Star, perpetrated planned attack on Sri Akal Takhat and Sri Harimandir Sahib in Amritsar. He said that on the other hand, the Aam Aadmi Party has also been moving on the footsteps of the Congress party. He said that the people have already seen the Anti-Punjab faces of both the Congress as well as the Aam Aadmi Party. Mr Dhillon stated that the Congress party has harmed the state religiously, economically and socially and now, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is treading in the same path followed by Congress.

He said that the Congress did not stop here as they gave Punjab’s share of river waters to Rajasthan, started the construction of Satluj-Yamuna Link canal and ruined the state’s economy by giving financial sops to industry in neighboring states. He said that Chandigarh and Punjabi speaking areas were never given to Punjab, which led to social imbalance in the state.Sharanjit Singh Dhillon said that now the AAP is also moving in the same direction and filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court of India regarding river waters of Punjab and by comparing their election manifesto with Holy Scriptures; it is also moving on the footsteps of Congress party. He said that such tactics of both these parties have hurt Punjab, Punjabi and Punjabiat, so all of us should remain vigilant from both the parties.Prominent among those present on the occasion included Sahnewal Market Committee Chairman Baba Jagroop Singh, Rachhpal Singh PA, besides several others.
