Irrigation Minister Lays Foundation Stone Of Two Water Supply Projects, Inaugurates One In Sahnewal Constituency

Irrigation Minister Sharanjit Singh Dhillon today laid the foundation stone of two water supply projects and inaugurated one in different villages of Sahnewal constituency. Worth more than Rs 3 crore, these water supply projects would benefit thousands of people from Dashmesh Kalan, Mangli Neechi, Jandiali and other adjoining villages and areas.A water supply project worth Rs 1.26 crore was inaugurated at village Jandiali. An overhead water reservoir having capacity of 1.5 lakh litres was inaugurated here, and for this, 10.11 kilometer long pipeline was laid and 786 house connections were given.Similarly, the foundation stone of two such water supply projects at villages Dashmesh Kalan and Mangli Neechi was laid by the Irrigation Minister today.At village Dashmesh Kalan, foundation stone of a water supply project worth Rs 75 lakh was laid today. This overhead water reservoir would be of 75,000 litres, for which 7 kilometers of pipeline would be laid and around 600 house connections would be given. At village Mangli Neechi, foundation stone of a water supply project worth Rs 1 crore was laid today. 

This overhead water reservoir would be of 75,000 litres, for which 9 kilometers of pipeline would be laid and around 332 house connections would be given.While speaking on the occasion, Irrigation Minister Mr Sharanjit Singh Dhillon said that during the last one year, several projects worth around Rs 44 crore have been carried out in the Sahnewal constituency. He said that 12 schemes of water supply worth Rs 10 crore, a sewerage scheme worth Rs 21 crore in Meharban area, 4000 toilets worth Rs 6 crore, installation of RO systems worth Rs 4.38 crore, development projects worth Rs 2 crore in 37 villages, besides several others have been carried out in the constituency.Mr Dhillon said that carrying overall development in all areas of Sahnewal constituency and providing basic infrastructure is his foremost priority. He said that there is no shortage of funds with the Punjab government when it comes to development. He informed that the water supply project in Dashmesh Kalan village would be completed by December and the project at village Mangli Neechi by February 2017.Mr Jaswinder Singh Chahal, Executive Engineer, Water Supply & Sanitation Department, Punjab, Mr Rachhpal Singh PA, besides several others were also present on the occasion.
