Mundian Khurd, Bhamian Kalan and Bhamian Khurd villages would be the first three villages of the state which would have a sewer line on the pattern of Municipal Corporation. The foundation stone of these projects was laid by Punjab Irrigation Minister and Sahnewal MLA Sharanjit Singh Dhillon at functions organised at village Mundian Khurd and Dashmesh Kalan Colony, here today.While speaking to media persons on the occasion, Mr Sharanjit Singh Dhillon said that the villages Mundian Khurd, Bhamian Kalan and Bhamian Khurd had very poor system for discharge of sewerage and water, and the condition of roads was also bad. He said although these villages were part of the city, but not part of Ludhiana Municipal Corporation, they initially faced problem for laying sewerage line on the pattern of Municipal Corporation. He said that a proper case was prepared and put before Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal and Local Bodies Minister Mr Anil Joshi, who readily agreed and issued funds for this project.
Mr Dhillon informed that six panchayats of these three villages would be covered under first phase on which around Rs 12 crore would be spent. Under this project, a 36-kilometer long sewer line would be laid and it would be completed in next three months time. He said that for the timely completion of this project, he has appointed retired executive engineer Mr Gurmeet Singh Khosa was nodal incharge. He said that very soon, 12-13 other villages would also be linked with this sewerage line.While addressing the gathering, Irrigation Minister Mr Sharanjit Singh Dhillon appealed to the public to not join their sewer connections with this line till the time it is fully complete. He also announced that the road connecting Mundian Khurd with Ludhiana-Chandigarh Road would also be constructed soon.Prominent among those present on the occasion included Senior Youth Akali Dal leader Mr Simranjit Singh Dhillon, BDPO Mr Harmandeep Singh, besides several others.
