Printing and Stationery Minister, Punjab, Sohan Singh Thandal reviewed the working of the department in a special meeting held at Punjab Civil Secretariat, here today. Mr. Kirpa Shankar Saroj, Secretary and Mrs. Jaswinder Kaur Sidhu, Chairman of the Department along with other senior officials attended the meeting.After the meeting, in a press statement, Mr. Thandal informed that the worn out machinery and other material including paper rendered waste during the 1993 floods as well as the obsolete machines lying at government press in Patiala and Mohali have been disposed off and added that through the firm approved by the tender policy of the department, the material has been lifted from both the centres. He said that a report on pending works of the department has also been sought and the officers have been directed to immediately take up with the departments concerned, the issue of lifting printed material lying in government press since a long time.He said that the officers have also been directed to prepare a proposal to print the books of Punjab School Education Board which are currently being printed by the private printers through government’s printing press and put up the requirement of men, material and machinery required for the same. He also said in a bid to ensure optimum utilization of the machinery, the department would strive to impart adequate training to the staff.
