The Department of Industries, U.T. Chandigarh, in collaboration with the MSME Development and Facilitation Office (DFO), Ludhiana, organized a focused awareness session under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme on Monday at Government Polytechnic, Sector 10-D, Chandigarh. The session aimed at creating awareness among artisans about export opportunities while highlighting the importance of formal business registration and financial inclusion.
During the programme, artisans were guided on obtaining Aadhaar-based Udyam Registration Certificates. Udyam Registration Certificates were successfully facilitated for 12 beneficiaries on the spot. Additionally, India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) accounts were opened for 13 participants and QR codes were generated to promote digital payment acceptance, enabling artisans to strengthen their presence in the digital economy.
The participants were also sensitized about the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and e-commerce platforms for business growth, entrepreneurship development, market linkage opportunities and the benefits of digital transactions. The Department of Industries continues to undertake such initiatives to empower traditional artisans by improving their access to government schemes, promoting financial inclusion, encouraging digital adoption and enhancing their participation in domestic as well as export markets.
