Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Monday laid the foundation stone of the Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee Satgarhi Smart Industrial Park and Convention Centre in Bhopal's Kolar area, saying the project will generate employment for more than 15,000 people and strengthen the state's industrial ecosystem.

Launched on the 125th birth anniversary of Syama Prasad Mukherjee, the country's first Industry Minister, the project is aimed at developing Bhopal into a major industrial and investment hub. Addressing the foundation stone-laying ceremony, CM Mohan Yadav said the industrial park would accelerate investment, create jobs and boost economic activity.

“The Satgarhi Smart Industrial Park will provide employment to over 15,000 people. The Satgarhi area will serve as a temple of industrial development,” he said. The Chief Minister said the state government was linking agriculture with industry to ensure better returns for farmers and employment opportunities for youth.

“Our government is working to connect farms to factories and industries to markets. Cotton-growing farmers will benefit from the garment industry, while industrial expansion will create jobs for the youth,” he added. The project includes a 25-acre convention centre with a seating capacity of 10,000 people, making it the largest such facility in Madhya Pradesh.

Officials said the industrial park is located about 25 km from Raja Bhoj Airport and 15 km from Rani Kamlapati Railway Station, while the upcoming Bhopal Western Bypass will further improve connectivity. Highlighting the state's investment momentum, CM Mohan Yadav said projects worth around Rs 10 lakh crore had already started taking shape from investment proposals worth Rs 30 lakh crore received during the Global Investors Summit 2025.

He added that MoUs worth Rs 86,000 crore had been signed since January under the state's "Year of Farmers' Welfare" initiative. The Chief Minister also announced that the state government would remove the Union Carbide waste from Bhopal and develop a grand memorial and a new hospital at the site in memory of the victims of the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy.
