Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday gave a clarion call to people for the Social Boycott of the Akalis who were Guilty of Sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Addressing the gathering here during the Shukrana Yatra, the Chief Minister said that Sukhbir may never get another turn in power, but the time will certainly come when both he and Majithia will be behind the bars.

He said that even after inflicting countless atrocities on people, they are still shamelessly holding rallies though their family is in disarray as they are not in speaking terms with each other. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that after the law was enacted, Sukhbir had left the country and while sitting abroad, he kept consulting lawyers about whether he should return or not.

The Chief Minister said that his heart was indebted with the unbounded mercy of the Almighty who has bestowed him the service to serve the humanity by enacting Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Amendment Act 2026, which stipulates harsher punishment for sacrilege.

He urged the people to go in the villages and make the masses aware that now anyone who will be found indulged in this heinous crime will be dealt with sternly and punished for this crime. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the previous rulers neither had intend nor will to enact law for checking the sacrilege due to which desecration of Sri Guru Granth sahib was a regular feature during their regimes.

However, the Chief Minister said that an act passed by the state government will put this to end as no one will ever dare to indulge in this unpardonable offence. Slamming the Akalis, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that they ordered firing on innocent people after they gathered to protest against the sacrilege across the state.

He said that Guru Sahib has entrusted him with this service after which began yatra from Sri Kesgarh Sahib, paid obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib today and tomorrow he will bow at Damdama Sahib. The Chief Minister said that the state government is now working for people and has provided free electricity to 90% of households, jobs to over 65,000 youth without corruption, improved roads, closed toll plazas saving Rs 70 lakh daily, and is building infrastructure.

He said that in order to provide comprehensive healthcare to people the state government has launched Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna- the first-of-its-kind scheme in the country that provides cashless medical treatment up to Rs 10 lakh for every resident family in Punjab.

Bhagwant Singh Mann said that it is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction that Punjab is the first Indian state to offer such comprehensive healthcare coverage, which has significantly eased the financial burden on the public while ensuring quality health services.

The Chief Minister said that every family is entitled for free health care facilities under this ambitious scheme adding that everyone should get enrolled under it. He said that the state government has started Maavan Dheevan Satkar Yojana as per which every woman will be entitled for Rs 1,000 per month and Rs 1,500 per month for women belonging to Scheduled Castes.

Bhagwant Singh Mann said that funds will be directly transferred to bank accounts and women already receiving social security pensions will also be eligible. The Chief Minister said that 97% of women in Punjab are expected to benefit from this scheme and the state government has allotted Rs 9,300 crore in the budget.

He said that the Punjab government has laid 14000 kilometres of pipes and watercourses across the state to facilitate the farmers of Punjab in every nook and corner adding that 21000 cusecs of water has been released in these pipelines and watercourses to benefit the farmers in a big way by catering their irrigational needs.

Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this water released by the state government is equal to water supplied by two bhakra canals adding that the farmers of the state will be immensely benefited by this move. The Chief Minister said that recharge points have been kept in the canals and rivers, so that water level is enhanced adding that water level has been enhanced upto two to four metre.

Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this decision is aimed at ensuring the well being of the coming generations as Punjab stands for water and without water the state has no existence. He said that the tax money of the people belongs to the state and they are judiciously spending it on the welfare of people adding that people’s money is coming back to people through development, schools, hospitals, and roads.

The Chief Minister further said that the Punjab Government has taken a historic decision to shift high-tension electricity wires passing through agricultural fields underground. He said that the project will soon begin as a pilot initiative from his native village Satauj to eliminate risks to human life, prevent crop damage, and remove constraints on agricultural operations.

Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the goal of the state government is clear, to empower farmers, conserve natural resources, and build a prosperous and sustainable Punjab. The Chief Minister said that in order to wean away the youth from menace of drugs, the state government will dedicate 3100 newly built stadiums across the state by July 15.

He said that promotion of sports culture can be the most effective tool in the state government’s crusade against drugs adding that with the promotion of sports the unbounded energy of the youth is being utilized for excelling in sports.

Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the youth who are involved in sports have no time even to look at drugs because they are using their all might to excel in their respective fields adding that this will go a long way in eliminating the curse of drugs from the state and making the youth an equal partner in social economic development of the state.
