Minister for Food and Civil Supply, Punjab Mr. Lal Chand Kataruchak reviewed the wheat procurement at grain market Barnala. Interacting to journalists Minister said that So far 38 lakh MT of wheat has reached the markets and 34 lakh MT have been purchased. 

Apart from this, Rs 1818 crores of the payment has been transferred to the farmers' accounts. He said that as per directions of Chief Minister Sh Bhagwant Singh Mann farmers are being given payments of their yield within 48 hours of the purchase and there is no delay in the lifting.

He interacted with farmers and the workers and reviewed the transportation of wheat. Punjab government is fully committed to procure every grain of the farmer's produce, he added. The Minister while directing the concerned officers of the procurement agencies to make sure that the farmers encounter no hassle in the mandis, divulged further that the necessary arrangements with regard to the Bardana, Labour and Transportation have been ensured in the mandis.

Regarding making good the losses caused to the crops in the past few days due to the unseasonal rain, the Minister said that specifical girdawari has been ordered and the State Government would make good the loss suffered by the farmers. On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Harpreet Singh IAS, SSP Mohammad Sarfraz Alam, SDM Barnala Dr. Ajitpal Singh Chahal, DFSC Ruppreet Kaur, District Mandi Officer Birinder Singh, along with Member of the District Planning Board Ishwinder Singh Jandu, Dheeraj Daddahoor, Arhtiya leaders were present.
