The Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, is fully committed to providing the people of the state with a better, safer and more efficient road and transport network. As part of this commitment, construction and upgradation of nearly 45,000 kilometres of roads is being undertaken across Punjab at a rapid pace.

These views were expressed by Punjab Public Works Minister Harbhajan Singh E.T.O. while interacting with residents during Public Outreach (Lok Milni) programmes held in the villages of Fatehpur Rajputan, Lalka Nagar, Mehoka and Qila Jiwan Singh in the Jandiala Guru Assembly Constituency.

The Cabinet Minister said that officials of the Public Works Department have been directed to carry out regular inspections of roads during the monsoon season to ensure uninterrupted traffic movement. He added that where bituminous surfacing cannot be undertaken during the rainy season, Water Bound Macadam (WBM) roads are being rolled and prepared so that bituminous work can commence immediately after the rains. 

He further stated that all development works are being monitored on a daily basis to ensure that no project misses its prescribed timeline.S. Harbhajan Singh E.T.O. said that the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab Government is committed to the all-round development of every region of the state. 

He also informed that officials have been instructed to strictly adhere to quality control standards, lane marking norms and the installation of all necessary road signage at every stage of road construction and maintenance.On the occasion, the Cabinet Minister also highlighted various flagship welfare initiatives of the Punjab Government, including the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme, Education Revolution, Health Revolution, Free Electricity Scheme and the Mothers-Daughters Honour Scheme (Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana), along with several other public welfare programmes.

During the Public Outreach programmes, he interacted with local residents, listened to their grievances and suggestions, and discussed issues related to the development of the area. He said that the love, trust and support of the people are their greatest strength and continue to inspire them to serve the public with greater dedication and commitment.He added that staying connected with the people, addressing their concerns and ensuring the effective implementation of development works at the grassroots level remain the Punjab Government's foremost priority.
