Chairman of the Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation, Dalvir Singh Dhillon, along with Chairman of the Market Committee, Dhuri, Rajwant Singh Ghulli, today stated that the construction of the Dhuri bridge will be undertaken by the Punjab Government and that all administrative, technical, and financial preparations for the project have been completed.
They categorically asserted that only the issuance of the No Objection Certificate (NOC) by the Central Government is pending and that the Punjab Government will float tenders immediately upon receipt of the approval. Addressing a press conference convened to counter misleading statements made earlier by former Dhuri MLA Dalbir Singh Goldy, the Chairmen clarified that the Punjab Government has already fulfilled all responsibilities related to the project.
Dalvir Singh Dhillon informed that ₹54.76 crore has already been reserved with the Punjab Infrastructure Development Board (PIDB), reflecting the state government’s firm commitment to the timely execution of the bridge. He further stated that all mandatory clearances from concerned departments have been obtained, including approvals from the Forest Department, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited, and the Water Resources Department.
In addition, all required financial deposits with various departments and land transfer formalities have already been completed, leaving no procedural bottlenecks at the state level. The Chairmen pointed out that all formalities related to the site map stand completed and that only the signature of the Railways’ Chief Engineer (Bridges) is awaited.
Once this formality is completed, the project will be ready for immediate execution without any technical or administrative impediment. Dalvir Singh Dhillon alleged that the Central Government is deliberately delaying the Dhuri bridge project as part of a broader pattern of obstructing development initiatives in Punjab.
He further alleged that Shri Ravneet Singh Bittu is creating unnecessary hurdles in the project and is attempting to politically settle scores following his defeat by the people of Punjab. Reiterating the Punjab Government’s position, the Chairmen stated that all facts placed before the public by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann regarding the Dhuri bridge are entirely accurate and that the state government has completed its part of the work well within the stipulated timeframe.
Terming the actions of former MLA Dalbir Singh Goldy as an attempt to mislead the residents of Dhuri through misinformation, the Chairman appealed to the public to remain vigilant and not fall prey to baseless claims. They asserted that upon completion, the Dhuri bridge will significantly ease traffic congestion at railway crossings, improve connectivity, and catalyse commercial, industrial, and social development in the region.
Reaffirming their commitment, they said the Punjab Government remains fully dedicated to the overall development of Dhuri and will not compromise on public interest under any circumstances. On the occasion, Anil Mittal, Sham Singla, Harjinder Singh Kanjhla, and Naresh Singla were also present.
