Dr. Ajay Gupta, MLA from the Central Assembly Constituency, has heartily welcomed the historic decision of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab Government to grant "Holy City" status to Sri Amritsar Sahib (Old Walled City), Talwandi Sabo, and Sri Anandpur Sahib.

He stated that this decision will further strengthen Punjab's spiritual heritage, culture, and religious identity. MLA Dr. Ajay Gupta was inaugurating the construction of Mohalla Clinics in Pind Kirtan Garh and Pind Mule Chak.

During the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Ajay Gupta stated that granting these three cities holy city status was made possible by the grace and blessings of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib, which is a matter of pride not only for the Sikh community but for all humanity.

He thanked the visionary leadership of Aam Aadmi Party Convener Arvind Kejriwal, AAP's Punjab in-charge Manish Sisodia, and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. He said that by fully developing the three declared holy cities, the residents and visiting pilgrims will receive all kinds of amenities.

MLA Dr. Gupta said that work has begun to fully develop Amritsar Walled City, which has been granted holy city status. He said that he is also proud that most of the Walled City area falls within his central assembly constituency. He said that he has already inaugurated the construction of four major roads in the Walled City leading to Sri Darbar Sahib, constructed at a cost of approximately 41 crore rupees.

He said that work on these will begin soon. MLA Dr. Gupta said that MhaSingh Road, Sherwala Gate, Ghee Mandi, and Ramsar Road leading to Sri Darbar Sahib will be given a heritage street look. MLA Dr. Ajay Gupta stated that e-tenders worth 206 crore and 211 crore have already been issued for the development of the Walled City.

He stated that these two development projects will develop approximately 117 kilometers of roads across the 11 wards of the Walled City into heritage street-like structures. This includes widening these roads, replacing faulty water and sewerage lines, and replacing streetlights.

He stated that no wires will be seen hanging in the air in the future. The sanitation system will also improve. MLA Dr. Gupta stated that facade work (painting Punjabi cultural artifacts) will also be done on the buildings located within the Walled City.

He stated that the entire Walled City will be given a heritage look. He stated that detailed project reports have been prepared for both projects. He added that the Punjab government has already announced the release of funds for both projects.
