MLA Daljit Singh Bhola Grewal and Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain today visited New Puneet Nagar to offer condolences to the family of 8-year-old Vikas Kumar Jha, who tragically lost his life due to a roof collapse caused by heavy rainfall on Monday. Expressing profound sympathy, they assured the deceased's family of the district administration’s unwavering support during this challenging time.

The MLA and Deputy Commissioner announced that the Punjab government would soon provide an ex-gratia payment of Rs 4 lakh to the family. Additionally, arrangements are being made to temporarily relocate the family to a suitable location. “The Punjab government and district administration stand firmly with the family in their time of grief and are committed to extending all possible assistance,” they stated, underscoring their dedication to supporting those affected.

MLA Grewal and DC Jain also ordered a comprehensive survey of damaged houses in the area. A team from the Municipal Corporation and other relevant departments will conduct the survey promptly, ensuring that all affected households receive appropriate compensation.

The administration will also provide food rations to families impacted by the floods. They added that the district administration is taking proactive measures to enhance resident safety and prevent future incidents caused by heavy rainfall.
