Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation and Mission Director Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) 2.0 J&K Urban Dr. Devansh Yadav today presided over the International Yoga Day celebrations at Bhartiya Yog Sansthan as the Chief Guest.

The event witnessed a large and enthusiastic turnout, symbolizing the city's strong commitment to health, wellness and collective civic responsibility. A standout moment of the day was a compelling Nukkad Natak (street play) themed “Naa Thapad Se Naa Gaali Se, Hum Samjhayenge Taali Se” (Not by Slapping or Scolding, but by Applauding, We Will Convince), presented by artists from Kalakar Manch.

Organized by the Jammu Municipal Corporation in collaboration with the Department of Art, Culture and Languages, the performance powerfully conveyed the impact of positive reinforcement in bringing about social change echoing the ethos of the Swachh Bharat Mission.

The program was effectively coordinated by Health Officer JMC Dr. Vinod Sharma and VAS Dr. Priyanka Malhotra, whose efforts ensured meaningful engagement of the public and the smooth execution of the event.

In addition to the cultural program, the “Plastic Lao, Thela Lejao” initiative was held at the venue. The Citizens were encouraged to exchange plastic waste for eco-friendly cloth bags, with over 450 bags distributed during the drive.

The initiative, supervised by Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav, aimed at promoting sustainable habits and reducing plastic usage among the community. Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM partnered as the official radio broadcaster for the event, amplifying the message of yoga, sustainability and community empowerment across the city.

In his address, Dr. Devansh Yadav praised the collaborative efforts of organizers, performers, and citizens. He urged everyone to internalize the values of cleanliness, health and social harmony in their daily lives and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to promoting such inclusive, impactful initiatives that shape a cleaner, greener and healthier Jammu.
