Participating in Vaisakhi celebrations-cum-voter awareness program organised by Indian Red Cross Society at Red Cross Senior Citizens Home in Sarabha Nagar on Friday, District Election Officer (DEO)-cum-Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sakshi Sawhney urged the residents to step forward and vote for better future of the coming generations.
The event was organised to spread awareness among the voters and to educate them about the importance of voting. A blood donation camp was also organised during the event. ADC Major Amit Sareen, Assistant Commissioner (UT) Kritika Goyal, Secretary of Red Cross Society, Ludhiana Branch Navneet Joshi among others were present on the occasion. District Icons for PWD voters including International para-badminton players Ashwani Kumar and international para-table tennis player Shubham Wadhwa also participated in the event and urged residents to vote.
Members of different NGOs and students from Red Cross Bal Bhawan, Government School PAU etc gave cultural performances including 'Giddha' and even held a 'Nukkad Natak' to encourage the participants to exercise their right to vote for a healthy democracy. Members of different NGOs including Marshal Aid foundation, Rehraas Sewa Society etc participated in the event.
During the event, DEO Sawhney interacted with the participants for encouraging them to exercise their 'Right To Vote'. She said that by participating in this 'Festival of Democracy', the residents can not only work for their own betterment, but they will also be building a foundations for generations to thrive.
DC Sawhney said that the aim of district administration is to ensure maximum participation during the Lok Sabha-2024 elections and to achieve the target of more than 70 per cent voter turnout during the Lok Sabha elections (Iss Baar, 70 Paar). The eligible first time voters can use 'Voter Helpline' mobile application and National Voter Services Portal (NVSP) for enrolling themselves as voters.
The residents can also visit www.nvsp.in to register themselves as voters. DEO Sawhney said that the district administration is committed to hold free, fair and transparent elections in the district and every effort is being made to facilitate the voters at the polling stations on polling days (June 1).

ਸਥਾਨਕ ਸਰਾਭਾ ਨਗਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਰੈੱਡ ਕਰਾਸ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਸਿਟੀਜ਼ਨ ਹੋਮ ਵਿਖੇ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਰੈੱਡ ਕਰਾਸ ਸੋਸਾਇਟੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਗਏ ਵਿਸਾਖੀ ਦੇ ਜਸ਼ਨ-ਕਮ-ਵੋਟਰ ਜਾਗਰੂਕਤਾ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲੈਂਦਿਆਂ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਚੋਣ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ-ਕਮ-ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਸਾਕਸ਼ੀ ਸਾਹਨੀ ਨੇ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਪੀਲ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਲਈ ਵੋਟ ਪਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਅੱਗੇ ਆਉਣ। ਇਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਗਰੂਕਤਾ ਫੈਲਾਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੋਟ ਦੀ ਮਹੱਤਤਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਗਰੂਕ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਖੂਨਦਾਨ ਕੈਂਪ ਵੀ ਲਗਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ।
ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਵਧੀਕ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਮੇਜਰ ਅਮਿਤ ਸਰੀਨ, ਸਹਾਇਕ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ (ਯੂ.ਟੀ.) ਕ੍ਰਿਤਿਕਾ ਗੋਇਲ, ਰੈੱਡ ਕਰਾਸ ਸੁਸਾਇਟੀ ਲੁਧਿਆਣਾ ਸ਼ਾਖਾ ਦੇ ਸਕੱਤਰ ਨਵਨੀਤ ਜੋਸ਼ੀ ਵੀ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ। ਦਿਵਿਆਂਗ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਲਈ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਆਈਕਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਪੈਰਾ-ਬੈਡਮਿੰਟਨ ਖਿਡਾਰੀ ਅਸ਼ਵਨੀ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਪੈਰਾ-ਟੇਬਲ ਟੈਨਿਸ ਖਿਡਾਰੀ ਸ਼ੁਭਮ ਵਧਵਾ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਵਸਨੀਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੋਟ ਪਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਗੈਰ-ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਸੰਸਥਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਰੈੱਡ ਕਰਾਸ ਬਾਲ ਭਵਨ, ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਸਕੂਲ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਆਦਿ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ 'ਗਿੱਧਾ' ਸਮੇਤ ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰਕ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਈਵਾਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਲੋਕਤੰਤਰ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੋਟ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ 'ਨੁੱਕੜ ਨਾਟਕ' ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਰਸ਼ਲ ਏਡ ਫਾਊਂਡੇਸ਼ਨ, ਰਹਿਰਾਸ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੁਸਾਇਟੀ ਆਦਿ ਸਮੇਤ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਗੈਰ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਸੰਸਥਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਮੂਲੀਅਤ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦੌਰਾਨ, ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਚੋਣ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਸਾਹਨੀ ਨੇ ਭਾਈਵਾਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ 'ਵੋਟ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ' ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਸ 'ਜਮਹੂਰੀਅਤ ਦੇ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ' ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਾਸੀ ਨਾ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਆਪਣੀ ਬਿਹਤਰੀ ਲਈ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਗੋਂ ਉਹ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀ ਦਰ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਫੁੱਲਤ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਹ ਵੀ ਬਣਾਉਣਗੇ।
ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਸਾਹਨੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਦਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਲੋਕ ਸਭਾ ਚੋਣਾਂ-2024 ਦੌਰਾਨ ਵੱਧ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਸ਼ਮੂਲੀਅਤ ਨੂੰ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਉਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕ ਸਭਾ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ 70 ਫੀਸਦ (ਇਸ ਵਾਰ, 70 ਪਾਰ) ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਮਤਦਾਨ ਦੇ ਟੀਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ। ਨਵੇਂਂ ਯੋਗ ਵੋਟਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਵੋਟਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਰਜਿਸ਼ਟਰ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਲਈ 'ਵੋਟਰ ਹੈਲਪਲਾਈਨ' ਮੋਬਾਈਲ ਐਪਲੀਕੇਸ਼ਨ ਅਤੇ ਨੈਸ਼ਨਲ ਵੋਟਰ ਸਰਵਿਸਿਜ਼ ਪੋਰਟਲ (ਐਨ.ਵੀ.ਐਸ.ਪੀ.) ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਵੋਟਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਰਜਿਸਟਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਨਿਵਾਸੀ www.nvsp.in 'ਤੇ ਵੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਚੋਣ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਸਾਹਨੀ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਜ਼ਾਦ, ਨਿਰਪੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਰਦਰਸ਼ੀ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਵਚਨਬੱਧ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪੋਲਿੰਗ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਿਨ (1 ਜੂਨ) ਨੂੰ ਪੋਲਿੰਗ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਹੂਲਤ ਲਈ ਹਰ ਸੰਭਵ ਯਤਨ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
