Visiting Asia's largest grain market at Khanna to inspect wheat procurement on Tuesday, District Election Officer (DEO)-cum-Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sakshi Sawhney appealed to the arhtiyas and farmers to spread voter awareness among labourers and villagers to ensure their maximum participation in Lok Sabha-2024 polls.
Sawhney asked the arhtiyas to encourage their labour and the farmers, visiting the market to sell off their produce, to enroll themselves as voters and exercise their 'Right to Vote' if they were not still voters. She said that the aim was to ensure maximum participation during the Lok Sabha-2024 elections and to achieve the target of more than 70 per cent voter turnout during the Lok Sabha elections (Iss Baar, 70 Paar).
She said that being a financial capital of Punjab and industrial hub, Ludhiana must shed the tag of lower voter turnout this time and cross 70-percent vote percentage. Sawhney also informed anyone who has attained 18 years of age can still apply for registration till May 4, 2024 if they haven't already registered to vote.
She shared that the Election Commission of India had launched the National Voter Services Portal (NVSP) and Voter Helpline App to facilitate the registration process for new voters. She encouraged them to click the link www.nvsp.in to get registered as new voters.
Similarly, she advised them to download the Voter Helpline App from the Google Play store on their android phone to enroll themselves as voters. Meanwhile inspecting the procurement, Sawhney said that the district administration was committed to ensure seamless purchase and lifting of the wheat.
She said that elaborate arrangements were made to facilitate the farmers and no one will be allowed to face any kind of problem during season. She said that around 8.11 lakh metric tons wheat was expected to arrive in the grain markets in Ludhiana and every grain of the produce would be procured because it was the fruit of six months of hard work of the farmers.
She said that Sub Divisional Magistrates and chiefs of the all procurement agencies have been asked to supervise procurement operations. She also said that the arrangements of drinking water, cleanliness, sheds, toilets, flood lights were made in the grain markets to facilitate the food growers.

ਕਣਕ ਦੀ ਖਰੀਦ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆ ਦਾ ਨਿਰੀਖਣ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਖੰਨਾ ਵਿਖੇ ਏਸ਼ੀਆ ਦੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੀ ਅਨਾਜ ਮੰਡੀ ਦਾ ਦੌਰਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਚੋਣ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ-ਕਮ-ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਸਾਕਸ਼ੀ ਸਾਹਨੀ ਨੇ ਲੋਕ ਸਭਾ ਚੋਣਾਂ-2024 ਲਈ ਆੜ੍ਹਤੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੋਟਰ ਜਾਗਰੂਕਤਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਵੱਧ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਸ਼ਮੂਲੀਅਤ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਈ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ। ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਚੋਣ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਸਾਹਨੀ ਨੇ ਆੜ੍ਹਤੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਿਤ ਕਰਨ, ਮੰਡੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਉਪਜ ਵੇਚਣ, ਜੇਕਰ ਯੋਗ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਹਾਲੇ ਵੀ ਵੋਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣੀ ਤਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਵੋਟਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਰਜਿਸਟਰ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ 'ਵੋਟ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ' ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਨ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਲੋਕ ਸਭਾ ਚੋਣਾਂ-2024 ਦੌਰਾਨ ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਵੱਧ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਭਾਗੀਦਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਉਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕ ਸਭਾ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ 70 ਫੀਸਦੀ (ਇਸ ਵਾਰ, 70 ਪਾਰ) ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਮਤਦਾਨ ਦੇ ਟੀਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਵਿੱਤੀ ਰਾਜਧਾਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਦਯੋਗਿਕ ਹੱਬ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਨਾਤੇ, ਲੁਧਿਆਣਾ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਵਾਰ ਘੱਟ ਵੋਟਿੰਗ ਦੇ ਟੈਗ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ 70 ਪ੍ਰਤੀਸ਼ਤ ਵੋਟ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਸ਼ਤ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਚੋਣ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਸਾਹਨੀ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ 18 ਸਾਲ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਅਜੇ ਵੀ 4 ਮਈ, 2024 ਤੱਕ ਰਜਿਸਟ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਲਈ ਅਰਜ਼ੀ ਦੇ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੇਕਰ ਉਸਨੇ ਵੋਟ ਪਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਰਜਿਸਟਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਂਝਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਚੋਣ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ ਨਵੇਂ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਲਈ ਰਜਿਸਟ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆ ਦੀ ਸਹੂਲਤ ਲਈ ਨੈਸ਼ਨਲ ਵੋਟਰ ਸਰਵਿਸਿਜ਼ ਪੋਰਟਲ (ਐਨ.ਵੀ.ਐਸ.ਪੀ.) ਅਤੇ ਵੋਟਰ ਹੈਲਪਲਾਈਨ ਐਪ ਲਾਂਚ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਵੇਂ ਵੋਟਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਰਜਿਸਟਰ ਹੋਣ ਲਈ www.nvsp.in ਲਿੰਕ 'ਤੇ ਕਲਿੱਕ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵੋਟਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਰਜਿਸਟਰ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਐਂਡਰਾਇਡ ਫੋਨ 'ਤੇ ਗੂਗਲ ਪਲੇ ਸਟੋਰ ਤੋਂ ਵੋਟਰ ਹੈਲਪਲਾਈਨ ਐਪ ਨੂੰ ਡਾਉਨਲੋਡ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਖਰੀਦ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਿਰੀਖਣ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਸਾਹਨੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਕਣਕ ਦੀ ਨਿਰਵਿਘਨ ਖਰੀਦ ਅਤੇ ਲਿਫਟਿੰਗ ਨੂੰ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਵਚਨਬੱਧ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਹੂਲਤ ਲਈ ਪੁਖਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸੀਜ਼ਨ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੀ ਦਿੱਕਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਣ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਲੁਧਿਆਣਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਅਨਾਜ ਮੰਡੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਗਭਗ 8.11 ਲੱਖ ਮੀਟ੍ਰਿਕ ਟਨ ਕਣਕ ਦੀ ਆਮਦ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਉਮੀਦ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ-ਇੱਕ ਦਾਣਾ ਖਰੀਦਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਹ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਛੇ ਮਹੀਨਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਪ ਮੰਡਲ ਮੈਜਿਸਟ੍ਰੇਟ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਖਰੀਦ ਏਜੰਸੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਰੀਦ ਕਾਰਜਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਰਾਨੀ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅਨਾਜ ਮੰਡੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੀਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਾਣੀ, ਸਾਫ਼-ਸਫ਼ਾਈ, ਸ਼ੈੱਡ, ਪਖਾਨੇ, ਫਲੱਡ ਲਾਈਟਾਂ ਆਦਿ ਦਾ ਢੁੱਕਵਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਅੰਨਦਾਤਾ ਦੀ ਸਹੂਲਤ ਲਈ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਐਸ.ਡੀ.ਐਮ. ਬਲਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਢਿੱਲੋਂ, ਡੀ.ਐਫ.ਐਸ.ਸੀ. ਸੰਜੇ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ, ਡੀ.ਐਮ.ਓ. ਗੁਰਮਤਿਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ, ਡਿਵੀਜ਼ਨਲ ਮੈਨੇਜਰ ਐਫ.ਸੀ.ਆਈ. ਐਮ.ਐਲ. ਮੀਨਾ, ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਮੈਨੇਜਰ ਮਾਰਕਫੈੱਡ ਸੁਧੀਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ, ਪਨਸਪ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਮੈਨੇਜਰ ਅਨੰਤ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ, ਪੀ.ਐਸਡਬਲਿਊ.ਸੀ. ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਮੈਨੇਜਰ ਸੁਖਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਆੜ੍ਹਤੀਆ ਐਸੋਸੀਏਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਨੁਮਾਇੰਦੇ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ।
